Appetizers are my favorite part of the meal, and Thanksgiving is no exception. I try and make something new each year, as well as keeping some old traditions. This year I am having:

Palmiers (new for me, and so delicious!)
Crabmeat Canapes (family favorite)
Homemade Guacamole and Tortilla Chips (kids must-have)
Assorted Crackers and Grapes with Three Cheeses and Shrimp Dip
Golfish-BeerNuts-Cashews

What about you? :)

Pigs in a blanket
Hummus with pita triangles/veggies (option for vegan sister)
Potato puffs

+ one more

Have done shrimp cocktail, cheese platter, grilled vegetables, scallion pancakes, etc., am still deciding on the last choice.

I've always loved the spinach/artichoke dip in a bread bowl. This is always the first thing to go. MMMMM

Pigs in a blanket
Shrimp cocktail
Nachos
Homemade clam dip w/Bugles
Cheese melts (on mini bread)
Relish tray (olives, pickles, cottage cheese, corn relish)
Broiled scallops

;)

Nothing. Don't want to spoil my appetite for dinner. Doubt I could eat all that and then dinner too.

If we have guests over I might put out some cheese and crackers.

We never have appetizers on Thanksgiving. We eat dinner at 1 PM, there's no time for them! Now, on Christmas, we "graze" all day long.

We eat at 1 also, so no appetizers. I do serve an appetizer for Christmas dinner and it's usually shrimp cocktail or pigs in a blanket.

I'm not a huge fan of turkey and all that, except for the stuffing, so appetizers are my favorite part of the meal also.

Claire Robinson did a Brie and Onion Puff on a Food Network Thanksgiving special that looked amazing. If I was going to be staying home I would make that, but I don't think it would travel well. And I'm sure my aunt's ovens will be too full to bake it there.

the apps are my favorite! We usually do:

clam dip & chips
shrimp cocktail
cheese & crackers
veggie tray
spinach dip in bread bowl
chicken wings

That is why I am never hungry for the meal!

Roasted shrimp cocktail,carmelized onion dip,cheese cubes,mini crabcakes,BBQ meatballs,crackers,cashews,peanuts in the shell.Tasty!:thumbsup2

Not sure what else will be served but the In-laws have requested that DH and I supply assorted cheeses as well as my Baked Brie.

I rub the Brie with a little Curry powder, then top with Mango Chutney and Cashews before baking for about 15 minutes. Yumm!

We usually eat around 2:00 so I don't really want appies before. But I love my big turkey sandwich at night after everyone(kids) are in bed. This is when I want the appetizer type food, to go with my sandwich.

My mom always said that after cooking the food all morning, she really didn't want to eat it. Now I understand and I don't eat that much at the big lunch, so later I really pig out, in the nice quiet, calm, family room, with my sale papers.

Gorgonzola Crostini
Roasted Baby Pears with Herbed Goat Cheese
Ham and Cheese Wreath
Apricot Appetizer Tarts
Apple-Rosemary Blue Cheese Bites

We eat at 1 also, so no appetizers. I do serve an appetizer for Christmas dinner and it's usually shrimp cocktail or pigs in a blanket.

Never did appetizers for Thanksgiving, either, but it's all we have on Xmas eve! :thumbsup2

This year is only a small crowd so just clam dip, spinach dip and cheese and crackers.

We are going to DBF's parents for Tgiving, just us, the girls will be in San Diego with their Father. DBF's Mom asked us to bring sweet potatoes & green bean casserole (if I want the green bean casserole, she quite passive aggressive lol) so I told her we would bring those. What she doesn't know is I'm planning to bake some artesian bread on Wednesday and also bring spinach dip and artichoke dip. I keep telling myself only if I have time, but with the kids gone and me not working I'm sure I'll have time! LOL I'm thinking both dips will go fast, even with the shrimp tray and cheeses she's also asked others to bring.

our two big ones are:
Baked brie w/ apricot spread in crescent rolls
Spinach dip
