Many of you are currently using my DVCPlanner program, and also know I'm working on a new DVC Point Tracking program (which will still be a ways off)

But, just for fun, I spent about two days and wrote a new program that is strictly a points program for the current 7 DVC resorts. What's different is this will show point charts for any year 2001 through 2054.

Instead of reading an external point table, the program has the point chart embedded in the program and uses several algorithms to calculate holiday dates for any year. It then automatically adjusts the DVC point chart around the holiday dates, by following Disney's historical patterns for setting Disney Seasons for the calendar year.

I will make the program available for general download on my website in a couple of weeks, but first wanted to see if anyone was interested in 'playing' with it first and giving me feedback/comments/suggestions.

System Requirements:

1. You must currently have installed the DVCPlanner program. The new program needs files that were originally created by the DVCPlanner installation

2. The program was written for a computer screen resolution of 1024x768 (or higher). If your resolution is still 800x600 (or less:crazy: ) then the form will be too big for the screen and you won't see it all. (Right click desktop, select properties, select setup. Check or change screen resolution) If you're using a resolution greater than 800 but less than 1024, then it might fit. You can try it and see.

3. You will receive the setup program via e-mail. (approx 400Kb attachment as an executable zipped file with .EXE extension) so your mail software must not block that attachment nor have a limit of less than 400Kb for a mailing limitation. Most limitations are at about 1Mb)

3. You must really be a Disney fanatic to want to see point charts for DVC resorts for up to 2042, or SSR for up to 2054 :teeth: :teeth: :teeth:

Besides showing the DVC charts and Disney Seasons for all years 2001 through 2054, it also shows many regular holidays for those years and the program could be used for just that reason alone. (Want to know when Easter is in 2020?)

Finally, it indicates which holidays Member Services will be closed.

If you'd like to 'try out' the program, please e-mail or PM myself. If you PM, be sure to include your regular e-mail address as I cannot PM back with an attachment.

I certify the program is free of any viruses.

If you post a reply to this message, please observe the DIS board guidelines about personal messages. I.E., don't post a reply like "I sent you a PM" or personal questions to myself about the program. Any posting reply you make must be of interest to all board users. see Doc's Message Here

Thanks,

Bill

Thanks to all of you who have replied so far. The program has been e-mailed to everyone who had sent a message as of Tuesday night. If any of you didn't get it, please e-mail me.

Meanwhile, if anyone else wants to try it out, let me know.

What is your recommendation on how to begin using the program. Say if you have 33 points remaining in the current use year, what would be the best way to begin using the data so that it would read 33 points remaining and not start with the 150
points that we use every year?

thanks for the help.
chris

Oops! I thought this was the dvc point manager program.
If any one has a suggestion on starting that one in the middle of the year let me know.
thanks

Thanks to all who asked to 'test' the program. I'm already getting some feedback with good suggestions, which I'm going to add.

I'm going to send out the program to the 2nd batch of people fairly soon. That would be everyone who responded since Tuesday night, so that makes about 35 people total.

Some of the original mailings had the *.exe file blocked. I'm going to rename the file and try sending it again.

Meanwhile, that's enough 'volunteers'

Thanks everyone.
