I just wanted to say thanks for talking about credit card fees and approvals when traveling out of the country. I'm from upstate ny, so I've been to Canada a lot, but i think it was mostly pre cc for me. I went to Mexico once, but that was more than 10 years ago and it was an all inclusive resort, so I don't think I used a cc at all. Dh and I are going on his company sales trip in 2 weeks and I called chase yesterday to find out what the surcharge is to use our visas in the Bahamas. The woman on the phone also then put a note on my acct with our travel dates. Since this is a company trip and we won't have a lot of meals and things on our own, and it's only 4 days, we've decided to try to bring enough cash so we won't need a cc. But we would have never known to even think about that without the podcast! Plus if we had gotten there and had our cards declined, I'm not sure what we would have done sine we aren't adding an international plan to our phones for such short trip! I've told dh to make sure he spreads the word to his coworkers!
