We just got back from our 1st week camping in the RV and it went well. Took a week trip from Ohio to Wisconsin. Drove 1500 miles on the RV and with all the gas cards we accumulated our cost was 175 dollars which I thought was good. We even got to use the generator a few times which was also good. We drove through a big city and handled it pretty well, even when a baseball game was going on in Chicago we found out. We were still able to go around siteseeing with the Rv (since is a 24 feet we are not comfortable in towing a car yet) and was able to see many things including driving back on narrow roads to see lighthouses. That was a good test to see what we can do. The only thing confusing was the refrigerator and running it on battery or propane. If you are going somewhere for a hour or two is it easier to use battery or propane? We were not sure so propane it was on all of our stops. Well Rhonda got us in 2009 for the week after Thanksgiving at the Fort. I am sure many more questions will be asked since this is our 1st trip to the Fort. Driving back we drove almost 600 miles in a day. This was a good test on how much we can drive in a day. I also learned that my wife is uncomfortable in driving on the xpressway. Is this typical for a woman having a hard time driving it on those roads?

175 dollars for gas isn't bad at all for a weeks worth of camping...glad all went well, our first stay in our tt we had to take many trips to Walmart to get settled. :cheer2:

was 350 in gas card that we used up. We really did not have to go very much to stores to get much. My wife is a diet tech and she is used to preparing foods for over 120 people at once. She had the the motorhome cupboards so packed and the fridge so packed that all we had to buy was bread, milk and pop for me. :rotfl: I was amazed at how much she could get in there for 7 days. She did not want to go grocery shopping in a state which we know nothing about what stores were up there and the food cost. I thought we did pretty good because each time we had to buy a 1/2 gallon it was never more than 2 dollars.

I can't answer your question for all women, I only speak for myself. When we bought our MH, my husband wanted a class A but I couldn't drive it. We bought a class C instead, which I can drive. I personally am more comfortable driving on the xpressway rather than local roads, but my dh still drives 99% of the time. ( He still wants the Class A----should of let him have it since he drives most of the time.)
Glad your first trip went so will. We'll toast for many more fun trips to come!

I am a women and I fly helicopters. In our house, DH drives on the road. Not because I am afraid but because he can't navigate. So he drives and I read maps. It was working well until he bought a GPS. :lmao:

Glad you had a nice time at the fort.

Ya I learned my lesson about buying groceries at FW last time we were there, I'm not a diet tech but the next time I will have the tt plenty stocked up too.
