You will have DELICIOUS granola that isn't too sweet and isn't too salty. Yummy! The firemen will love it!

I don't know....it might have trouble leaving the house :rolleyes1

Those sound yummy too!

If you have a dog cookie cutter, you could make dalmation dog cookies.

Or try something not sweet-since everyone else will probably bring sweet, you could bring nachos and salsa, or a meat and cheese and cracker tray or something like that.....

Or caramel popcorn or poppycock is always a big hit!

What is poppycock?

If you bring that you shouldnt tell them what it is called... they will make fun of the name forever and not eat it... :rotfl:

I think it is like caramel corn--and sold with that name :)

Is Poppycock a Canadian thing too??!!

It is like caramel popcorn. Has nuts in it too (optional)
One is the make the 'sauce' and stir it in with your popcorn, and then cook it, and then it gets harder.
The other is make the 'sauce' just stir in on, then put it in a container. It makes it wayyyy sticky, so that when you grab a piece and pull it apart it has a thread of caramelly goodness between the two pieces. Way gooey and sticky.
(my hubbys fave)

just asked my dad, who is a fireman..he said cookies or cake is always good...he also said most firemen will eat anything :)

You could make a firetruck cake, if you wanted to invest the time. The kids would have a great time decorating it.

I second my own idea, I still think that it is a good idea!!! :flower:

Let us know what you take!

I've got a couple of ideas...

Chocolate Chip Cheese Ball

1 pkg. 8oz. cream cheese
1/2 cup butter
1/4 tsp. vanilla
2 Tbs. brown sugar
3/4 cup confectioners sugar
3/4 cup mini chocolate chips
3/4 cup finely chopped pecans (optional)

Beat softened cream cheese, butter, & vanilla until creamy. Slowly add sugars until blended. Stir in chocolate chips. Place mixture onto a piece of plastic wrap and form into a ball. Refrigerate for 1 hour. Roll ball in pecans.
Serve with graham crackers.

*Cinnamon graham cracker sticks work great for this. :)

These are FANTASTIC! :)

Pumpkin Cookies with Caramel Frosting
***I always double the Frosting recipe to one cookie recipe. We really like the frosting**

Pumpkin Cookies with Caramel frosting
*MAKE FROSTING FIRST so it can cool before adding powdered sugar.

Cookies:

1 cup butter
1 cup sugar
1 cup pumpkin
1 egg
2 cups flour
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp salt
1 tsp. cinnamon

Cream butter, sugar and pumpkin. Add eggs and mix well. Add dry ingredients , mix well.

Drop from tsp onto cookie sheet.
Bake at 375 for 10 minutes.
Makes 4-5 dozen.

Frost while warm

Frosting

3 tbs. butter
4 tsp. milk
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 cup powdered sugar
3/4 tsp. vanilla

Cook butter, milk and brown sugar until dissolved. COOL. Add powdered sugar and vanilla.
Mix well, frost warm cookies.
Works best by pouring warm frosting over the the cookies with a spoon.

I am going to have to store all these recipes.

Sadly--I was nasty sick last week--so no time to get stuff together.

We made chocolate chip cookies with what we had on hand and the girls made cards.

Now here's the funny...I told the girls we were going to give the cards to the firemen. So when we get there--the firefighters line up--and of course they are funny.

DD5 "Are you a fire man?"

FF1 "No"

DD5 "Is he a fire man?"

FF1 "No"

DD5 "Well who is a fire man?"

FF2 "He is."

DD5 "Okay--this card's for you then."

Then they all start laughing. :).

Fun trip to the fire house--they had two calls while we were there and had to disappear. But they had an idea of how long it would take and practically to the minute were back when they said they would be.
