I was sitting around the living room with our best friends recently, we visited Disney together in September 2009. We were talking stories from that trip and one came to my mind that I had forgotten and it deserves mentioning here.

We all were at HS, we were on the street leading to TOT and RNRC when I stopped into the mobile pin keosk looking for different pins to buy my DD4. My wife and our kids along with our friends decided to take a potty break and we were a distance away from each other when I spotted a Star wars pin on the CM lanyard. Our friends have a DS5 who was looking for the elusive Star Wars pin trade. I also spotted a Captain Hook pin, seeing my DD4 has a love hate relationship with Hook, she is at times afraid of him but alas can never look away. So I turned and started toward the bathrooms to fetch the two pin trading kids.

Once back to the pin station, I noticed there was a tweener/teen young girl standing with the cast member looking at his lanyard, our friend child unfortunately butted his way in and quickly pointed out the Star wars pin and his trade was complete and he ran back to Mom, However the young teen girl pointed to the Captain Hook Pin just as my DD4 noticed it on his lanyard. The trade was nearly completed when I turned with my daughter to return back to our group, I told my daughter that we will just have to keep looking for Hook when we heard the young teen ask if we wanted the Hook?

I turned around and said that she was there first and I apoligized for our best friends child. His mother also said she was sorry and the Star wars pin went into time out and not on his lanyard for awhile. My DD4 wasn't handling the missed trade well and didn't understand there was millions of Captain Hook pins. The young teen was seconds from putting it on "her" lanyard but instead she put the "pin back" back onto the pin and handed it to my DD4. I was truely touched by the gesture and at times I have written off that whole generation however it restored my faith. I responded By "carefully" putting my hand on the young girls shoulder, and only after a permitting nod from her mother of course, procceded to direct her to the new pin selections to buy her any pin she wanted from the keosk. It wouldn't have mattered if she would have gone straight to the $16.00 pins. I was quite impressed by her kindness, thankfully there wasn't any LE framed pin sets there, I would have bought her some of those however, that is how much the gesture meant to me.

Sorry It's kinda long, but it's this type of random acts of kindness that is worth mentioning, as we parted I simply asked her where she was from, she said Canada. I felt we had something in common because my sport is Hockey and everyone in Canada loves Hockey Eh? Nevertheless we were Touched, so a great big shout out goes to our young teenager from the Great White North......Thank You for restoring faith.....Scuba

This just goes to show that there are still good people out there, plus this also shows what kind of up bringing this teen is given. Like I try to tell my boys treat people the way you would like to be treated, just hope it works.
