THANKS and A BIG THANKS!!! To all the volunteers. I would be remiss in not thanking all the ROTE and WISH folks who cheered along the way this cold wet weekend. You all being there reall was appreciated… YOU ALL ROCK>>>>>>>

Thanks Scott, I think that was the hardest earned Blue WDW marathon volunrteer windbreaker/park ticket I will ever have. I would not have missed it though as I wanted to be out there to support everyone!!

-Tracy

Another huge THANKS from me!! It made me happy to see some WISH shirts out there, even though I couldn't make the meet and really haven't met many of you in person. As tough as the runs were, I was quite certain that it would be tougher on volunteers, esp. at the water stops--getting wet in that cold.
The enthusiasm was amazing!

Tracy...that was me, getting a pretzel from you outside of MGM...I'm pretty sure it was you. I asked if you were the walking Tracy (because I think you used to post about the endurance events you walked? but then again, at Mile 23, I could have said anything!). You told me you were DisneyFan, so I figured I did have the right person in mind.

Scott and Carrie--so nice to meet you guys, even though we weren't all exactly having the best time on that stretch of road. I've been wanting to meet Carrie for a while, so good to see her!

KiraG...if you read this...I saw you at the full...you were a little behind me at the turnaround by WWOS, then I was sitting on a bench at HS, massaging my battered feet, when you ran by (New York Street area). Had I not been with one shoe on, I would have run out to say hi! Good job!

As for me...in spite of a developing stress fracture in one foot, I did the whole 42.4 (Dopey). The 5K and Half were fine, especially with my maintaining a conservative 3 min run/2 min walk pattern. My foot started bugging me more about 1/2way through the full, but it hurt as bad to walk as to run, so I had to stick with it...now Goofy is off the list!
Wasn't too far off time goals, either. So I'm happy and heading to the parks! With my boot on (not the same girl who walked both the 1/2 and full with a bedazzled boot on--hope she did ok).

Thanks again!!

Yes, thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

Having you guys out there either volunteering or scream teaming helped me surivive my first goofy, I can't thank you enough!

Also thanks to Matt who re-walked through EPCOT with me for a little while, it was nice to have some company! And for the twizzlers and oranges and everything else you guys did :) it can't have been fun standing out in the cold till us back of the packers made it through but I really appreciate that you did :)

Thanks

kirsty

Just got home from the airport and threw the first load of clothes in the laundry -- Next on my list was thanking all you guys for all the cheering, the volunteering, the pre-race encouragement, the pep talks, and the prayers. I am not going to try to name ALL the names because I would be certain to leave someone out and you ALL meant so much to me! So if you are not mentioned here, blame it on my memory and do not think you were not appreciated.

Very special thanks to Matt, who did the math for me on the marathon course and assured me I would complete my 5th Goofy within the time limit. He lifted the weight of the world off my shoulders! To Carrie who emailed me when I was planning on dropping out of Goofy and helped bouy my flagging spirits. To Laurie who kept me laughing in the corrals pre-race. And to John who told me from the start of the marathon that I was certainly going to finish (when I was not at all certain). Cam and the cookies, the pretzels at the turnaround, and Jeanne and Juan and so many others at the water stop that I cannot remember now through my race-world fog. WiSHers EVERYWHERE on the course screaming my name -- for the half and the full -- You folks were EVERYWHERE! How do you do that?!?!?!? You cannot imagine what seeing those friendly faces in the crowd means! Words cannot express my gratitude. I wish that there was a new more sincere, more geniune, unquestionably more meaningful way to say THANKS to you all from the bottom of my heart. BIG HUG!!!

The perfectly grateful Goofy,
Wendy

I have to add my heartfelt thanks to everyone :grouphug: team WISH is an amazing group of people. The fact that so many were out there in the lousy conditions cheering and supporting each other is awe-inspiring. I appreciated every Twizzler, orange slice and smile. You all helped me get through my first Goofy and I thank you. I tried to yell and cheer for anyone I saw on the course near me to give back a little of what this group has given me.

I'm looking forward to future races where we can hang out and share the accomplishment after the race instead of retreating under the mild warmth of a mylar blanket and running for the bus.

Betsy, I remember you now that you said that. Yes, you weren't sure if I was the right Tracy, so to speak, but yes I am dsnyfan21. You were looking good!!

Wendy - I was one who take inspiration from you. You have completed so many marathons its amazing. And to be Perfectly Goofy you are just awesome. I saw you both days in the beginning stretches of the race - I said Hi to you but I am not sure if you knew it was me or not. I looked like the Yeti with a brown blanket - the white throw away pants and jacket was such a fashion statement - but at least I stayed warm and dry.

The Twizzlers were great as were the oranges - I was so happy to see Tracy and the other WISHers outside of the Studios - that Twizzler hit the spot. I tried to yell GO WISH to all the WISH scream teamers I saw since I wasn't wearing WISH clothes. I had so much fun this weekend despite the weather and surprisingly don't feel too bad considering I went 39.3 miles in 9 hours!!!

A huge thanks to all the volunteers and supporters and cheering folks from me as well!! Races like this couldn't happen without you, and we runners really do appreciate all your effort. I know it was a lot colder for you standing out there at the aid and volunteer stations than it was for us running, so THANK YOU VERY MUCH! :)

Aloha and thanks to my WISH family. It was great seeing you at the meet, in the parks, and on the race courses.

I'll be seeing you in September for that Coast to Coast medal.

Congratulations one and all for volunteering, scream teaming, and participating in the races.

No much more I can add. To volunteer in that environment was amazing. Whether it was at a water stop or hanging around the course it had to be tough.

I missed a lot of the volunteers because one, I was so bundled up all you could see was my WISH visor and two, you were all so bundled up I couldn't see much.

Thanks again all the support is soooo appreciated.

Duane.

Thank you to everyone - but a HUGE thank you to whoever handed me the orange!! I felt so good the almost the whole race. I shouted Go WISH Team to any green shirt I saw, I was smiling, laughing. It all started to come unglued between mile 20 and 21! :rotfl: I saw those oranges and was so excited, then I saw it was from someone in a WISH shirt and it got a smile on my face again!

We had a super slow race because both girls I ran with had knee problems the last few weeks. We stopped at at least 9 aid tents for them to get that stuff rubbed on their knees, get Tylenol, stretch, etc. But, we had a blast and we will be back to do it again, hopefully it will be about 15 degrees warmer!

I have to add my heartfelt thanks to all the volunteers who braved the cold and icy conditions to support us. As participants we could generate some heat by moving; you guys couldn't so much.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!! Your support is GREATLY appreciated. :grouphug::worship::grouphug::worship::goodvibes

I also want to thank every Volunteer out on that course or behind the scenes. You guys were amazing! I also want to thank everyone who was out cheering! I really don't know how you guys do it.

I got a piece of licorice in two spots and for that I'm very thankful. It was the boost of seeing the WISH supporters even more than the actual food. Just a hello and how are you made me feel better.

The meets were fantastic and I miss all of you already!

Been pretty well covered by everyone but just wanted to toss in an extra THANK YOU !!!!!!!

Oh my goodness! You're all so welcome! :lovestruc It's so much fun to see my team mates out there, giving it their all. It makes me so proud of every one of you! Even the people I've never met before got to see me screaming and jumping around like a damn fool, ringing my cowbells yelling "GO WISH!!" And to those of you who really do know me well, I guess you're used to that kind of behavior from me. :lmao: Doing RWS#@ was rough, not only because of the cold, but because of the idiot Leader who treated us very, very badly. Disney Sports will be hearing from me. :headache: But I was so excited to see so many of you at that crazy hour! Then I went over to the hill before EPCOT, right behind the BCVs where I saw some of you again, and a lot more WISH'ers, since by then many of you had shed some layers and I could spot the lime. :thumbsup2 You guys all looked so great and I was very proud of every one of you!!!

Awwwww... You are welcome everyone!! It was a different experience for me this year cheering for BOTH races... usually I run the 1/2 and volunteer for the full... but cheering for both!!... I loved it!!! So much fun to race around the course and try and see everyone several times... my own personal marathon ;) LOL!!

All I have to say is that I am home and unpacking.. and finding licorice everywhere!!!!!!! It is in places that I have NO Idea how it got there!! LOL!! And.. I am thrilled with my new use for handwarmers ;):thumbsup2:rotfl2:

Congrats to all of you racers!! It was an honor and a pleasure.. now if I could cash in on all those "I Love You's"... and "Will You Marry Me's" I got.. LOL!!

Kathy

Yes, I can add to that...

"I Love you soooo much"
"You rock"
"You are amazing"
"OMG Twizzlers, how did you know?"
"Thanks from the bottom of my heart, I am sooo hungry"
"You are my favorite"

Felt great to be out there supporting the WISHers the ROTErs and all the race participants.

Tracy

One more BIG thank you to everyone - those who manned water stops, and those who ran all over the course both on Saturday and/or Sunday to cheer for all the runners and hand out whatever supplies we needed. I didn't take advantage of anything except the orange slices - for whatever reason, the mental struggle that I was having with myself on Sunday meant that I was completely unable to comprehend much of what was going on. I was coherent enough, however, to know where to look for the lime green, and just the sight of a WISH shirt was enough to give me a surge of energy and keep me going through that last 26.2.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Jackie
