Thank you Maynard!

My family met Maynard at DL in March of this year, and he made our experience that night so much more pleasant than it could have been! We had been struggling that day with 2 wheelchairs in our group. My Dad had recently found out that his cancer (discovered in Sept2008) had gotten worse and it was just a matter of time (he passed away in April). He wanted to come to DL one last time with the whole family. Anyway, Dad wanted to see the firework show that night, and by the time we got to the center area all the curbside waiting areas were full, and we had no place to put the wheelchairs. My Mom decided to ask the nearest CM, and it just happened to be Maynard. He led us to a place in the middle of the street where we could park the wheelchairs and be right at the front of the section they were going to rope off. Then he proceeded to entertain us, and help us wind down after a frustrating time. He made us laugh for a good 20 minutes while we waited!

Maynard has become legendary in the Disney Internet community, due to the prolific magic that he continually makes in his role as a Disneyland Cast Member, and in his other pursuits. When it comes down to it, Maynard is made of magic. He is magic. I met him in December of 2005, briefly in front of City Hall at Disneyland, and that memory has stuck with me and is as vivid as the day it was made. I also came across some ancient footage on youtube of him working the Tiki Room way back in 1990. He was the same then as he is today. So thanks to you, Maynard, for keeping Walt’s spirit alive for the world to love. We salute you, Maynard!
