Picture the HOTTEST Day of the year - June- Florida - RECORD breaking heat and humidity.

Crazy but small family of 3 (2 adts - 1 chd of 6) have reservations for the Family Magic Tour. Turns out to be the ONLY family that showed up for the tour.

Frankie (aka most wonderful tour CM ever) is assigned to our hot, melting-in-the-sun group. If you've ever taken the tour then you know the follwoing facts:

A) The CM is dressed in long sleeves, pants, and vest.
B) The tour is a walking tour all over the MK.
C) There is VERY little shade!

ITS HOT! ITS HUMID!

We were soooo ready to bail when we heard that we were the only family. And I would have thought Disney would have canceled to - why bother with only 1 family! NOPE! We're off on the adventure that my DD raves about to this day! :cheer2:

Frankie must have been dying from the heat and yet he was WONDERFUL! He sang in whale with my DD down Main St! He leap-frogged with her from tomorrowland to the speedway! (notice DM and DD are not doing the same :thumbsup2).

He made the tour exceptional for us! Every time we go by the tour area we look for Frankie and hope he is doing well!

Thank you Frankie - best tour we've ever had!

How is it for older kids? I have a DD 16 (who LOVES anything Disney) and we have 4 other kids ages 9-13 going with us....Can't decide to do this tour or the Pirate and Pals firework voyage. I just didn't know if it was only for younger kids.

Thanks for any info!

Its geared for everyone really - yes the younger kids will be more active doin it since there's some play acting (and we broke out into song a few times)! But I think the whole family will really like it - you have to follow clues throughout the park (I won't spoil the ending) in order to save the MK from the villians. And you learn neat Disney things along the way - and I'm a Dis freak - I thought I knew a lot - Frankie pointed out things we had NEVER noticed before! Some of the clues were harder (probably for the older kids) and some were really easy - so I think they try to range it for everyone.

We've also done the pirate's and pals pirate:- and that is fun for the younger ones in the begning as you get a meet and greet with Hook and Pan but then you're on a boat with a perfect view of the fireworks. While the younger ones are doing pics there's LOTS of goodies to eat - each time it was different but they put out a bunch of snack items.

We've loved both experiences - we've done pirates and pals a couple of times. We haven't done the family magic tour again just because it was soooo perfect the first time I don't want to ruin the memory :cool1:.

Money wise - If you have DVC (I think AAA or AP too) - you get a discount on either so if that helps with the decision making. And if the weather is bad and fireworks are cancelled (this happened to us) they refunded 1/2 our money if we still wanted to play with the characters and have the snacks (total blast - my DD played ring-a-round-the-rosey with Capt Hook and Smee and Peter) - otherwise you received a full refund.

Time wise - the family tour went from 9a to almost noon - the pirates and pals was from 8 to about 10:30 ish (fireworks were at 10p that night). So the FMT is longer BUT you go through the whole park (even went on the people mover ride while on the tour).
