Thank You "Disney Angel in Disguise," Upgrade For Nate and His Family!!!

Andy,

I just got home and realized my wife has been drinking again. She's not very quick on the uptake when she's been drinking (OK she's not quick when she's NOT drinking!:p (Just kidding - she hardly ever drinks; she just wants everyone to know how grateful we are). You may have to cut Chris some slack, she's a message board newbie. She did figure out ROFLMBO without any assistance. She thought she was really "hip" when she wanted to respond with LOL!

Anyway, we are eagerly anticipating what is yet to come!!

ERIC

Eric,

Now you have me ROFLMBO!!!!! I think my problem is, I don't drink enough, LOL!!!!!

Wishing you and yours the most "MAGICal" time ever!!!!!

Here is the newest photo of "My Hero, Verandah Boy---Nate Page" This photo will just melt your heart, I know it did mine!!!

looks like he's all set to cruise
Like his Mickey ears (and t-shirt of course)

I am so very glad that Nate got his wish granted regardless of which organization it came from. As a mother of a child with a life threatening (possibly terminal, only God knows) brain tumor and a receipient of a MAW trip to Disney World, please do not let this one incident of Nate being turned down give MAW a bad name. I have never heard that they turn down anyone though unfortunately there are so many children who are going through very difficult times with different problems that thank goodness there are several organizations to make these wishes happen if another cannot or for some reason won't. There are many other organizations such as the Starlight Foundation and Wishing Well, etc. The thought that MAW's reasoning was the inability to get a thank you is just flabbergasting to me. I hate to see that those people who have previously or are currently donating to MAW change those donations solely because of this one incident that I believe to be the local organization and not the MAW organization overall. I will TOMORROW call our MAW volunteer that we dealt with to get her take on the story. If this is true, I will be deeply saddened as I know that the look on his face when Nate sees Mickey in that atrium waving to him as he boards the ship will be all the "thank you" anyone with a heart would ever need.

Sorry to ramble, but please do not judge MAW on this one incident. I will post to let you know what our MAW coordinator has to say.

Amy

How sad it is that the ability to give is dependent upon the ability to receive appreciation...........

I truly believe that the acts of kindness that we do without receiving accolades, acknowledgement or appreciation are the ones that God holds in highest esteem. I would rather be an anonymous donor and know in my heart what I did than receive any praise for doing the RIGHT thing.

IF MAW or any other organization bases their ability to make dreams come true on the recognition they receive, then something somewhere is VERY, VERY wrong.

God bless all the people who took on Nate's cause and helped make his dream come true - whether you donated or prayed, it all counts!

luv2boys,

First let me say I will be praying for your child. And I hope things turn out the best way possible.
Next let me say that I am so happy your child received a wish. That must have been a wonderful time for your family. Thanks to WISHING WELL and our dfamily on this board, we too are going to have the opportunity to create memories that will last a lifetime with our son.
I hope you read the other posts here and on the other thread “special trip need lots of info”. You will see that I have not tried to turn anyone against maw. I am not a person that would do that. I am pretty sure that in a previous post I stated what chapter we dealt with, so I can only speak about what happened with them, not all of maw. However, I have no problem telling people the truth about what happened to my son. Now, if people want to give to WISHING WELL because they have come to know Nate and want to donate to them because they are doing a wonderful thing for my son and it makes donating more personal when you know a child who benefited from it, well I am certainly not going to say, “no please give it to maw who treated him poorly”. I guess I am just not that good a person. Instead I will say what I have already said, thank you , thank you , thank you. It means more than you will ever know to us. The truth is all the wish granting foundations need money. Some more than others. I hope it’s understandable that I have a fondness for WISHING WELL and want them to prosper because their hearts are in the right place.

What do you all think Andy is doing right now…….???? It’s almost our turn!!!

rae,
I have been meaning to tell you that I love that picture of your daughter, her smile is so beautiful!

Thank you - please visit the website that's under her picture. It's my contribution and effort to promote organ donation.
By the way, that picture was taken AFTER the "Little Miss" beauty pageant - Kayla didn't win, place or show.....but she had a wonderful attitude and said, "Mommy, thank you so much for letting me do this. I had a wonderful time!" Then she had her picture taken - to me, that child had won and I love that picture because it shows that a real winner doesn't need accolades, just attitude!

And yes, I miss her very, very much.

Rae,

You know how to make an Irishman tear up, even on a Saturday.

Actually, this is the second time just during this thread.

Seeing the picture of Verandah Boy, and knowing what Andy has done for him was the first.

Before I get Veclemp, I will give you a topic:

Carnival Cruise is neither a carnival nor a cruise:

Discuss.

No tears, Jim! Not for her or me or anyone who ever met her - we are the blessed ones - the ones to cry for are the ones who never met her for truly having her in our lives for even a short time was worth the pain and longing now. And as we say, we will all be together again someday...if we are worthy.

Rae, you have put words to the feelings in my heart about Nate. Obviously, we are still being blessed with Nathan in this life right now, but live everyday knowing we have to really make it count.

" And as we say, we will all be together again someday...if we are worthy."

I am trying so hard to live in a way that will make this happen. Sometimes it's the only way I can get through-is with the promise from God that I WILL see him again.

I have to say that reading the posts about Nate and Rae519 strengthen my faith. Using your pain to encourage faith in others is a special grace. God bless you both.

We don't know the day or time.....so live each day as fully as you can!

Less than two weeks for that big vacation for little Nate - hurrah!!!!!!!

Rae

Chris,

I've been reading this thread for the last few days and wanted to let you know that my thougths and prayers are with you.

On your original post you said that you had asked MAW to pay for a trip to Madison, WI. May I ask, did you ever get to make that trip? If I'm not being too nosey, what was it for? My family and I live about 90 miles south-east of Madison & that is where I attended college (GO BADGERS!). My husband & I are both in the medical field so I was wondering if you were trying to see a Physician at University Hospital.

Tracey

Tracey, if you don't mind I will send you a pm so I don't bore anyone with details!

Chris,

That would be fine. Just wondering if there is anything I can do to help you out if/when you make your trip to Madison. Madison is only 1&1/2 hours from my home & I have made that trip more times than I can count! At the moment I am a stay at home mom (my son is 6 months old) so my schedule is probably not as hectic as yours and I am more than willing to help you out any way that I can.

Are you ready for your trip of a lifetime yet? I was so excited for our first Disney cruise that I started packing about a week before we departed! I am so glad that you got the verandah upgrade. That will be very nice for when Nate has his rest times.
