Then we went on the Little Mermaid. And then we made Soarin our last ride for the day and our last ride for the year in CA. Fitting ending since it is the favorite ride of all of us. Afterwards we said our farewell to the park and headed in to rest up for our very last day of our vacation.

We did a little more than our usual looking around, noticing all the things we were going to be missing. It was one of those not so good camera days for me. Apparently I spent most of the day with the camera on the wrong setting….. AGAIN!

Fuzzy I know but zooming in was the best I could do since we hardly ever care to wait in the long lines for autographs or photos.

We finally got around to getting our annual family photo made in front of the castle. Nothing like waiting until the last minute. We really need to work on our timing because it is always so sunny in the morning. DD and I end up squinting while the guys end up wearing their sunglasses. I always have high hopes of getting a night time photo of us all in front of the castle but I failed again this year too.

Day 13, Saturday, November 12, 2011

Well, after 2 weeks of fun you can imagine that this was not one of our better days. Always sad to have to head home. On the up side, after a full 2 weeks, we do start to get a little homesick so we do have a little something to look forward to even though we are leaving one of our favorite places behind. Thankfully the trip home was pretty uneventful. I don’t think we even got lost on the way home from the airport this time!

So, that about wraps it up. I finally finished this trip report! :cheer2:
I hope some of you have enjoyed reading along. I know I have enjoyed sharing. Can’t wait for our next trip! I have already started making plans for our Thanksgiving trip in 2012….. AND, we will be heading to the wedding and WDW in Florida in April which is just right around the corner! 2012 is going to be a FANTASTIC year for Disney trips with my family! Looks like more trip reports will be coming soon!

Another wonderful TR Marie! Will have to check back again, the DIS has been beyond slow for me today, and some of the pictures on page 5 wont load for me. I was surprised at the lights burned out in the IASW picture that said "ho ho ho" near the dolls! They should keep up on that!

Also, did you know you put the date wrong in your first post? I had to re-read it several times, and I thought, Wow, Marie's trip is in the future!! :lmao:

That is a great picture!

Priceless.

Thanks for the trip report. I'm looking forward to your next trip. ;)
Thank you auntiegem! I love those Jumpin Jellyfish. They are absolutely beautiful at night. ::yes:: And, I think the photo of my DD hugging the pole is exactly how a lot of us feel when we are heading out of the park on our last night. :sad1:

Thanks for taking the time to comment Stacie and thanks for the nice compliment. As you can see apparently I need folks keeping tabs on me to make sure I am not making mistakes! I do like to think of myself as a seasoned Disney traveler but really I have not become a time traveler yet! Thanks for pointing out the mistake I made on the date. I THINK I have gone back and corrected it now but if I missed it somebody please be sure to point it out to me.

Again, I did not even notice the detail in the photo. You would think that since Small World had just come out of the being closed for the big holiday overlay that every light would indeed be in good working order. Looks like somebody slipped up a little in this case.

I LOVED your review! Spent quite a bit of time going through it last night and loving all the pictures as well :) Thanks so much for sharing!

I forgot to add.. I am a huge fan of Amtrak, that's what prompted me to click this link. I'd love to hear your Amtrak stories :D

I love your trip report. Especially since you did such a great job with photos and review of Dolphins Cove. We are heading there may 12-19th and while I have seen some good reviews on trip advisor, I've also seen some horrible ones. Glad to see the great pics and encouraging words. We arrive on a Saturday, but wont be going into the parks until Sunday. I am planning on having Von's deliver groceries on Saturday. How far in advance did you place yoru order? Any helpful hints? This is all new to me ;) we will also be staying in a 3 bedroom. There will be 4 adults and 3 kids. Two 5yr olds and a 2yr old. Are there TV's in all the bedrooms? Dvd player? Trying to plan for entertainment while we are at the resort :)

I am so ashamed! I have readers and have been sorely neglecting them! Must remedy that ASAP!

I am glad you enjoyed my TR. I'm kinda sad it's over now but not to worry cause there's always another one to come somewhere down the line! It's always my pleasure to share. I don't get to spend as much time reading trip reports as I used to but I do know in my earlier Disneyland days reading trip reports were always such an inspiration and an excellent means for garnering information and ideas. I always hope I am able to return the favor for at least a few people around here.
I see your trip is fast approaching. How exciting! I hope you have a magical time! :wizard:

I forgot to add.. I am a huge fan of Amtrak, that's what prompted me to click this link. I'd love to hear your Amtrak stories :D
Awwww! Glad to hear from a fellow Amtrak fan. It's been several years since we have gotten to travel via train but I would like to do it again someday. The last couple trips we took my DD got sick. I have no idea if it was related to the train at all... perhaps the motion?... but we finally started flying and have been using that method ever since. The train was fun but I do have to say the convenience of being at DL in only a few hours by air vs 2 days by train makes a huge difference. Someday maybe when we are retired and have more time we will be able to travel the rail again.
Also, and I don't know if you have noticed the same but the level of service from our first trip compared to our last trip were vastly different and made a big impact on the enjoyment of our trip. Our first 2 trips, aside from the weather delay, were very enjoyable. We had amazing service and were treated like royalty. The food was fantastic. But then Amtrak ran into financial woes and cut way back on what they had to offer. I'd like to hope that it got better and they returned to their previous level of service. For the cost they do need to provide something to make it a little more than mediocre.
Except for our Amtrak first trip all others were to Disneyland so most of our trips were pretty much the same. I have a crummy memory for details so I really don't have much to offer. However, I would love to hear about your experiences. Where has Amtrak taken you?

Thank you! I am glad you enjoyed the report and the details on Dolphin's Cove. I hope you enjoy staying there as much as we did. The ONLY thing I did not like was not being able to walk across the street to the park. However, we have been spoiled to doing that for 10 years and will learn to adjust. Just going to take a little getting used to and then everything will be just perfect.
I, too, had seen some of the horrible reviews and was very worried myself but after having seen DC for myself I cannot imagine giving it a bad review. Only thing I can figure is that they did do a lot of upgrading over the last few years. And then there is the possibility that there are some people who are just picky and cannot be pleased. Anyway, everything seemed fine to us and I think you will enjoy the time you spend with them.
The 3 bedroom we had was very roomy so you should have plenty of room for your party. There were tvs in all the bedrooms. DVD player in the living room. They have cheap movie rentals in the lobby and a pretty good selection. The pool was a nice temperature and never very crowded. There was a ping pong table near the pool and game room up stairs. They also offer different activities throughout the week but we did not participate in any. Plenty to keep the kids entertained when you are not at the park.

My mind is drawing a blank right now on any specific tips... probably because I am in the midst of trying to find my own WDW tips for our trip... but if I happen to think of anything outstanding I will be sure to let you know. Looks like your trip will be here before you know it. I hope you and your bunch have a fantastic trip! :thumbsup2

I think I placed my Von's order the week before we arrived. If you need a specific time I would suggest you order a little sooner so you don't miss the time slot you want. If it's your first delivery they generally will offer free delivery on your first order when you sign up on their website.

Excellent report! Thanks for sharing :)

We stayed at Dolphin's Cove last year and really enjoyed it too. Our room was a little dated but nothing as bad as some of the reviews would have you believe.

Thankyou so much for your wonderful trip report! Your DD is a so cute and such a ham lol. My DD age 20 and I are going to Disneyland for the first time in July and your report with your great pictures has us really excited. It is so nice to read how families like yours tour the parks and for someone who has never been before the pictures are priceless!!!!

Thanks again....:thumbsup2

Thanks for the wonderful advice. We have just over 2 weeks until our trip. Getting very excited:)

As usual, the DIS has not sent me notifications that I had received new comments. I suppose I also assumed that this trip report had sunk to the hidden depths of the trip reports pages... never to be seen or heard from again. What a pleasant surprise to see that there are some around here still reading and enjoying! :yay: Glad to still be on the radar providing folks with a little reading material and photo indulgence. Also, hopefully, offering a little inspiration and doing my part to add a little to any trip planning enthusiasm that those of you might have who are making plans to be in the park at a future date. :woohoo:

Thank you for joining me and sharing your comments, TaniaU.
I am beginning to think that some of the people who write reviews must be terribly hard to please. Wasn't it a huge relief to see DC for yourself? I am glad you enjoyed your stay and were willing to overlook the outdated-ness. I am pretty sure they have been working continually on improvements and you were just unfortunate enough to have not gotten in on one of the more recently renovated rooms.
We have plans to return for Thanksgiving 2012. My DH says that Dolphin's Cove is probably the main part of the trip he is looking forward to seeing again!

Welcome aboard maggieb9975! Thank you for the nice comments! I am so excited for you and your DD getting to go to the park for your very first time!!!! :dance3: There is nothing quite like that first trip so be sure to savor every moment. I hope that this will be just the beginning of a long line of future trips for you. You'll have to be sure to write a report for us and let us know what you think and share your photos with us too.

Thanks for the wonderful advice. We have just over 2 weeks until our trip. Getting very excited:)
Oh boy! Someone thinks I have given some good advice! That doesn't happen very often in real life.... :lmao: but I usually do much better when the advice given is something related to the park. Hope you have a fantastic trip! Have you gotten started on that packing yet? ;)

Hi there:wave2:

Just wanted to thank you..............

Firstly, I am at home feeling very miserable with a terrible case of the flu. So, to cheer myself up I decided to jump in and find some trip reports I had not read yet. Cheered up I now am!!!

Secondly, for writing a wonderful trip report. There are so many similarities in our views that you made me feel right at home again in my happy place. I must say I am so envious that you get to visit Disneyland every year. Living in Australia, it is not the easiest ( or most cost effective! ) thing for us to do!

But, we endeavour to get there every other year. So glad to hear that there are others out there who are happy just to be at Disneyland for longer periods of time! My 15 year old DD and I will be spending 16 nights at our happy place in October! As far as we are concerned, the longer the better!

I look forward to reading your other reports and will be interested in your thoughts on WDW.

Sounds like a fab Disney year for you guys.........

Thanks again

P.S I just love your families paver.................... I so wish I had one of those too!!!

Wow! My trip report has been revived! :lmao: I am so glad you were able to find it and I really hope that it did help make you feel a little better on your not-feeling-too-good day. The flu is the worst! I hope you are feeling MUCH better by now!

Thank you for sharing with me your thoughts on my little ole trip report. Glad you were able to find some similarities to your way of thinking. We do love our long vacation! I can certainly understand why making it to Disneyland every year from Australia might be a little rough. I complain about airfare her in the states but I bet it is very steep coming all that way. Still, very happy for you that you get to make it every other year. Bet you can build up some major excitement waiting for that trip to happen!

I hope you get a chance to check out my other reports and by all means you do not have to wait until you are at home sick. :rotfl:

Wow! Seriously, such an amazing TR! Not only informative but you provided so many great pictures of everything! I just happened to read this because it was mentioned on the Main Disneyland boards and all I can say is wow! Thanks for sharing a little piece of your magic until we go later this year:thumbsup2
