Hello!
I'm working on my first scrapbook, and I'm at a complete loss as to how to get text on my pages! My handwriting is awful, so I want to type out my picture captions and "stories", but I can't figure out what to do! :confused3

Do I print out what I want to say on regular printer paper? Then tape it to the pages? That seems like it will look so cheesy. And won't the tape show through? Maybe I can print on colored cardstock...but I'd have to see if my printer would even take it.

I'd love to see or hear about some examples anyone has of this...so far all I've seen is handwritten text.

Thanks,
Katy :)

When I don't want to hand write my journaling, I print it on either cardstock, vellum, or transparency. Then to adhere it to my page I'll use some kind of adhesive on the back (if it's cardstock) or run it through my xyron (for any of the above), or use some other method (stickers, brads, eyelets, fibers, etc.) But I never use tape to "stick" anything down.

To be honest, though, most of my journaling is handwritten. Even though it's not the neatest, it gives my pages a more personal feel.

I have terrible handwriting, but have only typed my journaling once. First, most people hate their handwriting, but it's unique to you and really akes your albums more personal.

Now, I just did a book for my father that was our trip to the 2002 Stanley Cup game. I wanted to do a game re-cap. For that, I decided to type because it would be just too much regular writing. I found a cool font that looked like an old typewriter (to give it that reporter feel) and did some other fun fonts and colors to highlight words. I printed it out on vellum and mounted it with clear photo splits. You cannot see them at all. It turned out pretty cool. I still think I'l stick to my terrible writing (and you can verify how bad it is w/co-workers) for most stuff, though.

Hi there -
I know how you feel -
A lot of the time I will just cut my 12x12 paper to fit through the printer - print my text - then stick the pieces back together -
or print on cardstock and use double sided adhesive to mount on a page -
I would highly recommend puttin gsome handwritten journalling somewhere though - as much as you hate it I am sure someday generations to follow will love it!
You can slide a tag behind a picture or in a pocket.
Here are my layouts at 2peas for some idea

Hope that Helps!

Thanks everyone,

I tried cutting some cardstock and printing on it, and it worked really well. I'm still to nervous to actually stick anything to the pages! It'll become final then, and I'm just not ready! It seems liek every time I open the scrapbook I get a new idea. I feel like this may be a never ending project...lol!

Provided you use scrapbooking adhesives, nothing is permanent. There's a product called "Un-du" and that's what it does!

I don't use my actual pictures for anything. I scan each picture in and manipulate them the way I want before reprinting them for my scrapbook. This way, I can add text where I want. I also don't take the chance of messing up a picture.
