We are deciding on venues for our wedding and these are the top two contenders if we don't get married in Disneyworld.

My stipulations were that I either wanted a reception site with a fireplace or one that overlooks water.

The Tewksbury Country Club has both and looks absolutely beautiful, but I can't find any reviews on it. Has anyone been to a wedding or function there?

Danversport Yacht Club overlooks the water and seems incredible, but I'm guessing the pricing must be really up there.

I deleted Nahant, it's no longer an option. :)

If anyone has been to any of these places I would love some feedback...the good, the bad, or the ugly!

Oceanview of Nahant has beautiful scenery, but the interior looks kind of old and not up-to-date. I'm also not a fan of the blue rugs, but love the brick walls.

The venus in Gloucester are Ocean View Inn and Tavern on the Harbor. These look "okay" but Gloucester is a bit far and would probably be my last choice unless one of the sites happened to be phenomenal.

I've been to Oceanview for a wedding and Tewksbury CC. I was less than impressed with Nahant. While it was gorgeous scenery, the place was in need of renovation when we visited and the food was just OK. It was over 5 years ago, but I recall waiting forever for our dinner to arrive.

Tewksbury doesn't have the "view," well unless you consider Burger King a view. Seriously, Tewksbury CC was WONDERFUL. The food, service and decor was top notch for the price they charge. I've been to 2 showers and 1 wedding and it was the same great service on each occasion. I love their ballroom, it's simple but just lovely. I've never hired them directly (I was only a guest), but from what I hear they were great to deal with. I would absolutely have a wedding there.

We looked at the one in nahant, it I felt the same way. I'm pretty sure it's the same place I'm thinking of and I was married in 99 and it was outdated then.

We looked at a few locations in gloucester, but again..I agree kinda out there.

Now a very good friend of mine was at tewksbury country club in june. It was beautiful!! When you go in the main entrance we went upstairs and onto back patio for cocktail hour, then the room on the left for reception. It was so nice w/all the woodworking. They picked the location for the woodwork, that's what hubby does. It was so nice. The setting in the back for pictures was beautiful and they must have been having an outdoor ceremony later one, after we left they were putting chairs outside for what you would think would be a ceremony area.

Our table was at the back doors, so we had a great view of the golf course and the "ponds" outback. Service was great, it's easy to get to.
Another vote for...if I wasn't already married, I'd have my wedding there.

Thank you so much for your fantastic advice. I'm so glad I can get opinions from people other than those on the testimonial pages. In the pictures on the website, it looks like there's a pond with a bridge at Tewksbury CC. Are you not allowed in that area for the wedding? I really want a place that has open doors to a patio overlooking water of some sort. That's really hard to find without having to go into Boston. Do you know anything about the pricing? I'm going to call tomorrow for a site visit.

There was actually an outdoor patio where the bridal party took photos and we were able to have drinks during cocktail hour. It wasn't a huge area but it was very pretty and it overlooks the golf course. From what I understand the pricing is moderate for a wedding. I wouldn't exactly say it's inexpensive, but it's probably a lot cheaper than a Disney wedding. :)

I just love the place. My parents were there this past weekend for a wedding and they share my sentiment about it.

we were out at the patio area and the bridge over the pond. We had access to go out there during the wedding if we wanted to. They did a lot of the pictures out there, as well. The kids got a kick out of it.

I love the way it looks. It really seems beautiful. I just saw the Danversport Yacht Club and now I'm falling in love with that two. Tewksbury and Danvers are my top contendors, but I'm betting Danversport is really expensive.
