Great progress already! I might have to jump on the train and write down a to-do list too. Maybe once I see how long mine is, it'll get me going!

Don't forget my todo list too.... Hunt down those pesky groomsmen! HA

Love you dear.

So I just wanted to share some real quick updates. There is nothing major going on here but a few decisions have been made and we learned about 2 very pleasant things.

1.Greg's daughter Emma has agreed to be my flower girl.

This is a very big deal because I have yet to meet her in person as she is in Chicago. Emma will turn 9 in a couple of weeks and I remember being this age with divorced parents and it was rather difficult. I have met her on skype and talked to her but needless to say I was anticipating more resistance from her. It would not be a surprise if she was upset her daddy is getting re-married and moving away. She already knew he was moving to Texas we told her that early on and then we waited to tell her about the wedding. When we told her though she smiled and I told her "that means I get to be your step mom" and she laughed (in my head I wanted to say...and NOT like cinderella's stepmother). Then I asked her if she would be my flower girl and she said yes then we told her where the wedding was which of course got a smile. She has been to Disney World a lot of times so it was not that surprise like you see on TV when kids find out they are going to Disney World but I am sure she is just as excited. So this is good news for us because we have the support of his daughter.

This is all kinds of funny because my Dad is actually getting married AGAIN for the 4th time in April and this is the first time since the 2nd marriage of my mom that I am willing to stand up at the wedding...speaking of I need to get a dress for that.

2. My brother says my youngest nephew should be allowed to come to the wedding with no problems.

My brother got divorced maybe a year and a half ago and his ex wife is very possessive of their son. Luke just turned 2 at the beginning of January and he is obsessed with Cars. He is a pretty awesome kid I just hardly ever see him due to his psychotic mother. Anyway...I was really concerned she would not let him come to the wedding because we would be taking him out of state and away from her. I asked my brother if he has asked Liz if he can take him to the wedding. My brother said it should not be a problem at all. I told him I was planning on Luke being a ring bearer and that I want to find a stuffed lightening mcqueen or fillmore for him to carry down the aisle. My brother liked that idea. So it looks like I will have my two ring bearers.

Part of me is actually thinking of turning Emma and Nathan my oldest nephew into a mini maid and a mini groomsman. Nathan really does not want to be a ring bearer and I am not going to have Emma in a flower girl dress she was going to be a in a mini maids dress from alfred angelo anyway. Thoughts?

3. We decided on linens for the reception.

We got the samples from Connie Duglin Linen and we put together different combinations with my mom and finally settled on one. Here is the link to the site so you can try to imagine what I am about to say www.connieduglinlinen.com
Tablecloth :Ivory provided by fulton's
Table overlay: Crushed Romance Purple/Teal
Chair Covers: Solid Color fabric in Marina
Napkins: solid color fabric in marina
Since we are not going to have a head table greg and I decided our chair covers and napkins would be different so...
Chair Covers: Crushed Romance Peacock
Napkins: Crushed Romance Peacock
also perhaps we will have a sash of purple teal added with a peacock feather tied in the sash.

Ok so that is all I have for now.

It was so nice Emma agreed to be your flower girl. :) I hope this is the start of an awesome relationship between you too!

Luke sounds adorable! It would be so cute to have a Cars character plush for down the aisle!

Hmm.. not sure what to say about the mini wedding party members! If you think they would both like that, I'd do it. I'm sure Emma would feel really special.

Love the linen plans-- it will be beautiful!!

That is great to hear about your soon to be step daughter. Getting along with your fiances child is so important and makes things easier for both of you in the future. Having her in the wedding is such a great way for you two to bond as well:) I would have her be a Junior bridesmaid rather than a flower girl. We had my husbands 8 year old niece in the wedding as JB. She loved it! She had so much fun hanging out with wedding party. She was so good, I loved having her with us. I think she felt really grown up!

I love you linens, they sound so pretty. Those colors are going to be so pretty together.

Ashley- I think you are right that she will really like to be junior bridesmaid and I am excited about having her involved.

-Congratulations on the flower girl! That must make Greg so happy.
-Also, I’m glad your nephew should be able to come.
-Your linens are gorgeous.
-Woohoo! Less than 5 months! You must be getting excitedddd. And, I’ve looked over your to-do lists: you have plenty of tasks to keep yourself busy. :goodvibes

I'm so happy that Emma agreed to be the flower girll! And what a great way to start to really get to know her!

I love the idea of the mini maid/groomsmen. They're older and should be given 'fancier' titles. (I can't come up with better wording at the moment; I've been staring at the screen now for a good five minutes lol)

The linen selections are going to look SO amazing.

Less than five months! :cool1:

Congrats on getting Emma to join your wedding, what a nice way to include her. I have a son from a previous marriage and it meant a lot to me when my H accepted him. I hope you two can have some girl bonding time during the trip. Maybe a GF tea?

Congrats on choosing the linens and having a 4 in front on your ticker!

Congratulations on your flower girl, she will be a little princess for the day and I agree that will also make Greg extra happy!

Your linens sound fab, yay you are in the 4s!!!

So I posted about this on FB but here is my little rant.

So my bridal party has become one of the more stressful aspects of this whole thing. If you ask me it should not be that way. The bridesmaids have been great I did lose my MOH and I had to find a replacement but that really was not so bad.

The problem is the groomsmen. Greg has contacted his brother to be his best man and that has been accomplished so we are good there. Now on to the other two. He left them messages saying he needed to talk to them because he was getting married. Well one of them has yet to respond and it has been over 2 weeks and the other one said that he would have to see. This is because his girlfriend has kids and they would have to find care for them to be able to come down and that was a week ago with no answer.

I really feel like these guys don't care that Greg and I are getting married and that we have all year to figure out logistics. Well we do not we have 145 days. The save the dates are in the process of being printed and I wanted to send them out to everyone we are inviting. Through help on the FB group I have come to realize that I should just send out the save the dates regardless of the ridiculous groomsmen.

I did tell Greg if we don't have responses by wednesday then he needs to pick some different people because it is an honor to be asked to be a groomsman and if you don't care enough about it to respond then you obviously don't care enough about this major life event even if it is Greg's second marriage.

I am just thinking to myself ok well if they dont want to come fine I have other people I could be inviting that would come! But that is my bridezilla side.

In addition to this my mother made a big deal because I am not asking my brother to be a groomsman. Well im sorry but I am not going to force greg to ask my brother to be a groomsman he has the right to ask whoever he wants and to have friends stand up with him. In addition to this my brother told me when we first got engaged that he did not like greg and he did not approve of us getting married. I don't know if that opinion has changed any at this point since he has gotten more time to know him. Also when I told my brother where we were getting married he made a face and said "why?" so why the hell would I want my brother to be a part of the bridal party????

So anyway I guess I am also in a worse mood because I was not at work yesterday and come to find out someone stole stuff out of my office because someone at school unlocked my office and left my door open. How awesome.

ok well....bad day

Teresa

Aww I'm so so sorry for your frusteration.

I think that more than the money, more than the logistics, the PEOPLE cause the most stress and drama in any wedding.

I'm sorry for your drama: I lost FOUR bridal party members, so I know how it feels.

But, if these people don't want to be a part of your day: then they don't, and they're simply not worth it. Guys also just don't understand these things haha. I also wonder: could there be an underlying issue? Perhaps there is a money problem and they don't want to say. People get weird with weddings.

Chin up! It will all work out. :) <3
