I remember the 3 dipping sauces, and they did explain each before you ate, but I don't remember what they were was one a peanut sauce maybe? I prefer not looseing the grilled flavor with the sauce.
"Shrimp" sauce is a regional thing. It's huge here in Tennessee. It doesn't taste a thing like shrimp (has no seafood in it), but is rather a sweet "peachy orange" colored sauce. It's usually mayo based.
I really don't like it... it can be quite overpowering and mask the flavors of the food.

Yes, thank you!! I am in TN, how did you guess LOL
So they don't have that at Teppan Edo, apparently. That's my dd's favorite part of the hibachi meals here.
LOL we call that white sauce here in SC and I LOVE it on hibachi anything.. Now when I went to Teppan Edo back in 2005 (then Teppenyaki) there wasnt any and when I asked the chef laughed at me and even told the chef on the other side who laughed..
Now ski mentioned a white sauce I wonder if that could be it..
Be forwarned tho they dont do hibachi rice its noodles, I was so dissapointed as thats one of my faves! You can get steamed white rice..
They did have this when we went in December...I think! We call it 'yummy yummy' sauce and we didn't expect it to be there. Well, it was there and it was delish! I seem to recall them calling it shrimp sauce, because that sort of made me think I wouldn't like it.
