Since this will be our first year w/o a camper and just using tents I was wondering if the big rig people mind there people in only tents? I love the premium/ and partial site and dont want to give that up, just wonderingif you would be upset with us being sandwiched between you in our tents?

If anybody is that "SNOOTY" about you being next to them in a tent they shouldn't be there to begin with.

You can set up on any site next to us anytime...

Have a great time.

You are paying for it so it's yours to camp with a tent or whatever. I do believe though that most, if not all, premium sites do not have any coquina pads to stake your tent down but I am not sure.

I didnt think about that! I guess i will need to do partial then!

You can tent in preferred and full hook up also, still sand pads there. Some of the premium have enough sand pads but not all. We are all campers. :thumbsup2

As long as your not banging tent stakes into the ground, blowing up your air mattresses and slamming car doors at 2am.... NO PROBLEM! ;)

Seriously, you'll see all kinds of camping equipment on all kinds of sites at the Fort.

It's one of the things we love about it! :)

Haha no we won't we usually arrive around noon(if we are lucky enough to get to check in early and site is available) I would not even want to do it in the dark much less that late at night!

Who cares what someone in their RV would think? They are no better than or have more of a right to a site than you do. The only ones that are that stuck up probably have their head shoved so far up their butt they can taste yesterdays dinner. No one should ever let someone dictate if they are worthy to camp near them. If I found out I had a snooty person like that next to me I'd go out of my way to annoy them. But that's just me.

I might have to hang an extra clothesline. :rolleyes1

Wow, I guess I never would have thought someone would be upset if I camped next to them. I've been to a bunch of races where you will have a tent next to a $1 mil rig next to a 25 year old TT with all the graphics peeling off. Everybody comes out and we all have a great time meeting each other. I thought that's what camping is about.

Sorry you felt like you needed to ask. Guess there are some camping snobs out there. Obviously their problem. Don't worry about it.

Spring break 2008, we tented in (I think) the 400 loop (our site was directly across from the 100 and 200 loop and catty corner to the road to the Settlement -- AWESOME site BTW) since we had several small children w/stubby lil legs in our party, and didn't want a long walk or a bus ride. The big rig campers were super nice -- one gentleman in particular came over and helped us with setting up our tent since it was starting to sprinkle. (FYI -- it was about 3PM not 2AM so I'm pretty sure it was out of the kindness of his heart -- not just trying to get us to shut up LOL!) No one fussed about our "towel" line or flamingo lights and we sure as heck didn't fuss if somebody had to run their generator at 6AM. As I remember, it was a little hard to position the stakes for the tent but since it was a good sized cabin tent, we were able to kinda straddle the paved section.

Bottom Line -- it was ALL GOOD! :)

We are also just back into tent camping after years in a travel trailer. Like you I grew to love the premium loops. I figured if I at least could get into 1500, I could 'rough it'. Our 2 trips this year, in tents have been in 2000. I have never had a better time at FW than I did on these trip! :cloud9:

That's the problem as I understand it the premium sites are all concrete so no place to put a tent. I know this next comment will generate a lot of hate mail and negative comments against me, but I just think it's tacky and inconsiderate when I see folks pitching tents between sites and every where outside of their assigned site. They seem to think they can use whatever open land there is even if it's 10 or 15' away from the actual RV site to use for whatever reason. Within your site pad (read that as where you should be putting things like tents, screen rooms, etc.) you can do what ever you please but you didn't rent your site and all the space on each side up to your neighbors site pad to use for your needs.

I do believe that the OP was talking about renting their own site, camping and setting up any screen rooms etc... on said site. OP was actually trying to be considerate by asking if a tent would bother those in fancier rigs.

No hate mail here Larry. Just think ya went a little overboard. :)

I personally do not mind if folks spill over into the "between" area as long as it isn't more than half way and they don't take over "our" space. If Disney doesn't say anything...neither will I. ;)

OP, we love to see tents. In fact the tent set ups are my fave's. They are much more interesting and full of character than the big rigs. Who knows? If you are creative enough you could win TCD's Man of Genius award if he happens to be there when you are. :lmao: Happy Camping!!

Even though I'm not a camper I love FW. Last trip a friend and I rented an electric cart for the day and just tooled around the Fort. I loved seeing all the big rigs, medium rigs, tent trailers, trailers and tents right next to each other. Reminded me of my childhood when we went from sleeping on cots out under the stars, to a tent, to a camper and truck to a motorhome. It was right before Thanksgiving so people were out putting up their decorations--and some Halloween decorations were still up--so it was so fun to see. ALMOST made me wanted to camp (notice I said ALMOST).

We got to tour the cabins (one was being renovated because some college kids had trashed it and a gracious CM invited us in to see) and someday I might do that just to get the "feel" of staying at the Fort!

Every time we've been in a premium loop (and there've been a lot of those times), there have been at least a couple tenters in the loop, in addition to those tents pitched on the same site with an RV. Somehow folks are getting the tents up and anchored with all that concrete. It would never have occurred to me to be disturbed because someone was camping with a tent in the site next door. We just got back from the Fort last night, and we were in the 1700 loop (which I loved - we had a great site). I do think the sites there might be more conducive to tents because of the large coquina pads, but as far as I'm concerned, tents are welcome in every camping loop.
