tenting in FEB.

Just wondering if anyone has tented it in FEB. Is it terribly freezing at night? We have never camped at Disney but love it at home and have alot of practice. We live in WI and are used to the cold. Could we hook up a electric blanket or heater or would we get elecriquded? I know it sounds silly. Oh yeah another ? DH says that there would be alligators and such that could come and do god knows what to us. I say he's paranoid. Has anyone ever seen anything dangerous at the Fort? Any Tips or advice would ease my mind TIA Jen

I have not camped in feb. but i have during the summer in a part of the fort that had a small river running behind it and we never saw any gators but every morning about 6:30 am I did here "row row row" as some people were rowing past in a small boat.

Sure you can hook up electric blanket & heater. I would much rather camp when its cold then hot! I don't know what you will sleep on but the ground can be really COLD even if you sleep on a air mattress, that might be something to think about. Have Fun!

We have camped the past 10 years in Feb. Started in a pop-up and now have a 5th wheel. Nights are some times cool 30's or 40's . This year there was a freeze warning. Most nights are in the 50's but you can get cold spells. Just bring electric heater and you will be fine.

Hey there, Jenketeer (cute name btw!), we've camped in a tent several times in February and love it (it's our favorite time to camp there). We've had balmy to chilly weather and a trip with one fairly cold night but it didn't bother us, we camp with air mattresses, sleeping bags and an extra blanket per person. What's the coolest you've camped in up in Wisconsin? You'll probably think it's paradise to camp in Florida in February.

I have tent-camped at Ft. Wilderness every December for the past 5 years. Some nights it got downright COLD!!! I have an air mattress and I bring an electric blanket and an electric mattress pad. I bring a 40ft heavy duty extension cord and a heavy duty power strip and run that through one of the little vents in my tent.

I would turn the electric blanket and mattress pad on high just before I headed to the shower at night, then when I came to bed, my bed was toasty warm. I would turn the controls down to 1 and be warm all night!!

The other key to staying warm in cold weather is to run a fan during the day and keep windows open. Crack you rwindows at night. (You create lots of humidity just breathing in a closed up tent.) Humidity and dampness are real enemies of staying warm. Florida has terrible humidity.

I tent camped at FW in Feb. a couple of years ago. I agree with others that you will be fine with it. It was nice to be able to enjoy a warm breakfast. I just prefer winter and fall camping anyway. If you do, I'm sure you'll have a good time! Good luck!

I was worried about our Jan. reservations. We were either going to go in Jan or May and decided on Jan. for a number of reasons...including the weather. We find it much more enjoyable to be in a tent, all bundled up and cozy then trying to get "cool" in the hot weather. Just bring some good sleeping bags and foot socks and you should be fine.
