Tent site v. Full hookup site

Hi all! I managed to snag a full hookup site for our entire time 9/27-10/6. (In case you didn't see my earlier post we had a tent site for 9/27-10/1 and 10/2-10/6, but couldn't find one for 10/1).

So, besides the price, what is really the difference between the two? We have a giant tent and a screened shelter. Should I keep trying for the tent site for the night we are missing or just cancel those ressies and stick with the full hookup? We won't have a golf cart, just bikes. I have two girls (4 and 8) who are used to camping. My husband is in the Army, so you know he can sleep anywhere. Help!

I'm pretty sure it's a sewer connection and possibly cable - neither which are probably relevant to your stay in a tent (unless you have a portable toilet in which case being able to dump it will be nice). I believe the full hookups are also (or potentialy) pet friendly and different locations, but As I understand pets aren't allowed in tents so that is also moot (unless you don't want to be around people with them). We originally could only get a tent spot or a premium - I didn't want all paved but the sewer connection was important so we went full hook up when it eventually opened (we have a pop up).

Of course I am new to camping at Disney so I may be off on this!

Bama Ed could answer this better, but I believe the coquina pads in the full hook-ups may vary in size/shape from site to site, so noting your tent size will be useful in getting a place large enough to stake down your tent.

IMO, the full hook up sites are not as noisy as the tent sites. The 2000 loop sites away from the other loops so there is not as much bus or car traffic.
The tent loops (2000 and 1500) have water, electric, and cable. The 2000 loop has more sites in the loop, I believe 60 or more, with the bigger tent pads while the 1500 loop has 29 sites I believe with smaller size pads.
The full hookup sites have water, electric, cable, and sewer, but also have a smaller pad for pitching a tent.

We stayed in a full site last Oct. with a 18x17 tent and a 12x12 ez-up. I usually bring a tape measure with me and either measure the site or just layout my tent to see which direction it would fit the best.

Here is site 2016 without our ez-up, plenty big enough for both, if we had them.

The only problem we had with this site was the trees in the way.

This one is of site 1643, full hook-up.

Out tent is 18' long and went from the electric panel in back of the site to the driveway. We where going to turn and set it the other direction but then our ez-up would have been on the parking pad.

After doing both the tent loops and the full hook-up loop, we prefer the full sites, just have to maneuver the tent around to get it to fit.

No 4077, you and snowmedic have given good answers. The tent spots do vary in size which is why noting a large tent size will help ensure getting a site that it will fit into. Driveways are 12' wide and tent spots are at least a foot wider on each side most times. Thus if one side of your tent is longer than 14', you should note it.

And yes, 1510 and 1516 have trees in them which can get in the way of the "one big tent" approach. And one or two tent sites in 1500 are very small relatively speaking (1501 comes to mind).

I would go with the Full site for your visit, MotherRunner. I can see the day when I will be booking Full sites in the future and I would request 1600 loop with sites around 1630 being a check-in request. That's about where the 1600 loop walkway is to the Comfort Station next to 1500 and you get the "close to the pool" benefit on that end of 1600 same as 1500. The downside of that approach is it's closer to the main road (vehicle/bus noise).

PS - that Crimson Tide banner/flag will look good at your campsite too!

Thanks so much everyone!

This is the exact info I needed @snowmedic . Our tent is almost identical to yours with a screened shelter on the front where your rain fly extends. 18 feet total length.

Thanks @bama_ed! Roll Tide ;)
