We've been tent camping at the Fort quite a bit and are looking at finally getting a travel trailer at the end of this year. I am curious what is the maximum length TT that can be accommodated in one of the two "tent" loops. We are thinking 23' to 25' which will also make more sites an option at our National Parks but am curious what folks actual experience is. Thanks!

Well, first the "Tent" loops aren't intended for Travel Trailers. The description for this level is plain enough to read and interpret. Hybrids can also stay their by virtue of their canvas if they fit.

Next, the description also says a paved length of 25' which doesn't leave much room for a tow vehicle. How would you feel about keeping your tow vehicle up in the main parking lot all the time?

My actual experience is I don't see travel trailers in the Tent loops (1500/2000) unless its an emergency type of exception (in other words, rarely but mostly never). My popup camper fits just fine though with the tow vehicle.

I suggest stepping up to a Full Campsite at FW if you end up going the TT route. They indicate a length of 50' paved.

PS - also, if you intend to visit NPS parks, their bear policy treats canvas hybrid travel trailers like tents (duh right?) which would prevent you from staying in any NPS park with bears. So that's something to keep in mind.

Ed is right, I would not plan on the Fort allowing a travel trailer in a tent site. You'll see a few pop ups, A-liners and lots of Class B vans. But also, there are no sewer hookups in the tent sites and no dump station. I'd also go with the Full Hookup sites.

I've considered our 25' Class C Sprinter over there and I think we'd fit fine, but unless it's only a few nights I really enjoy having sewer. Dishes and showers fill up that gray tank :)

Another point you may not have considered is that it is not fun for tent campers to be boxed in by RVs, which is why the tent loops exist.
( We are very lucky at the Fort to have options to accommodate all types of campers in the various loops. I believe you may be looking for the "Full" category.)

It's been awhile but I have stayed in the tent loop with my 19ft travel trailer. There was enough room for our truck and camper. And, I always see small travel trailers, truck campers and camper vans in the tent loops. We checked in at the front with no problem.

I think anything larger than 20ft is too big for the tent loop.

That being said, I am more comfortable in the full-hook up loops. I like sewage access so that I may shower in the camper and have no worries about a full black tank. We like to have space for a screen tent in addition to our camper. The full hook up sites are a tier above the tent sites in cost but worth it. I personally prefer the full-hookup sites to all other sites at FW.

Depends on the site. Yes, it's more expensive for a full hook up , but you do get more room. And the sewer hook up. So unlimited shower time after the parks. Some tent sites are huge, some arnt. I would say 35 foot is the max. And then your car may or may not fit. If you have slide outs, they may or may not fit.
