Ten Year DVC Anniversary

Today is our 10 year DVC Anniversary.

To celebrate, we have two 2BR units for our party of nine. Six of us ran and completed the Everest Expedition Challenge Run last night. Many in my group are first time WDW guests and all of us are having a great time.

I am writing this from my balcony at AKV Jambo overlooking the Sunset Savannah. It is the first bright and sunny day of our trip and the view is GORGEOUS. Even with rain and heavy clouds the views have kept us mesmerized. At times we've seen as many as six giraffe simultaneously. Observing the zebra's and wildebeest's antics have given us much to ponder and discuss.

This is a FANTASTIC trip. Loving it!

Ten years! That is so cool! I sometimes think that we should have celebrated our 10 year anniversary as DVC members, but thinking back, that was also the year of our 30th wedding anniversary, and we did it up big at OKW. So belatedly we can say it was our 10th DVC anniversary also. You make me want to check our paperwork-10th year owning at BCV, 10th year owning at HHI. Great celebrations.

Thanks for this thread! Made me do the math and sure enough it's our ten year DVC anniversary as well!! Just another great excuse for the 4 trips we have scheduled over the next 12 months!

For DVC anniversary do you go by closing date or 1st day of first DVC resie? My 10 year will be 2016...May 15 for buying DVC and Sept 17 for 1st DVC stay. I might have to do like OP and book a special fun trip on our DVC 10 year anniversary. Congrats to all who have big milestones this year!!

I went by the date my DH and I were "signing the Mickeys and dating the palm trees." (It was a direct purchase -- so our account was available right away.) Our first use of the points was at Vero Beach right near Labor Day to welcome Hurricane Frances. What a start!

Wow...that was quite a Welcome Home...a hurricane . Good thing it didn't scare you off.

I always say we have been members since June 2006. I guess that's because that is the month we got our membership # and booked our first resie (for BWV that Sept). But in looking at the OCC site, we closed on that contract (resale) on May 15, 2006. So, this thread was perfect timing. It's neat to reminisce on the past 8 years. Our first trip with DVC, we took my mom and fell in love with BWV (and now we're new owners at BWV). I remember the love bugs all over the place...even the curtains in our villa. Also, loved going to WDW in Sept. My kids had off as they were in year round elementary, so it was a nice time to vacation and WDW wasn't crowded. Anyway, thanks for this thread!!!

Congratulations! I just realized this is also our 10th DVC anniversary. We were in "the world" in January and March of this year so I lost 2 opportunities to celebrate. We have another trip booked for December so I guess we will celebrate then. I will have to think of something new to do.
