Is Tempura Kiku closing? I read some news about the restaurant rehab at the Japan pavilion that seemed to state that Tempura Kiku would not be there when they reopen. Is this true? I'd be sad to see it go!

It is closed, and will never be opening again. I believe that it being swallowed up by Japan Edo (I could be way off on that), serving traditional Japanese food from the Edo time period. Either way I do hope that they still have some tempura, but more importantly great sushi.

Awww I like the food there I thought it was a good light lunch. My husband didn't care for it. I'm gonna miss it.

Wasn't Tempura Kiku a CS place? Will there be a CS meal available in Japan when the reopen?

It wasn't counter service, it was full service and last time I was there you could use the dining plan.

So sad it's gone! I heard it's just going to be one teppanyaki restaurant, and one sushi restaurant now... I'm sure both will be great, but I will miss the intimate setting of Tempura Kiku, chatting with the chef behind the counter, and watching them make the tempura right in front you. It was such a sanctuary away from the busy parks and there never seemed to be a wait for it.

In case anyone cares :goodvibes I was able to make reservations for the new place for January when I called yesterday. I don't know what I'm hoping for. We have a GREAT hibachi restaurant that we go to all the time so I don't know if I want that on my vacation but then again I'm sure this one will be different. Either way, I'm prepared. (Andi if it's just sushi my friends will kill me for making reservations there and not somewhere else)

What was the name of the place? I was under the impression there would be more than one restaurant...

I don't remember. (Sorry!) I will have to check when I get home from work tonight. I was just so excited about making my reservations that I sort of blanked out. (This was after I couldn't get Le Celliar for the night I wanted so I was all in a tizzy -- did get it for a few nights later though.)

Please post when you know! I'm really interested in finding out what the restaurant (or restaurants) is/are going to be like! Hoping to take a trip In Jan. myself.

you got it -- and it's not like I can forget. I'm on this board from the time I get done dinner to the time I go to bed LOL

"The new Japan Pavilion restaurants will be Teppan Edo and Tokyo Dining. These are expected to open early October 2007." What will this mean if I had ADR's for mid October for Kiku???????
What should I do?

I thought Tampura Kiku was walk in only, didn't know you could make ADRs.

Well, I had no idea it was closing or closed. Last year I went in to get tempura. The hostess seemed a little confused, but then she told my son and I to come. She led us to the bar. When the waitress came out she told me they don't normally serve the tempura here but it would be ok for us to sit there, she retrivied tempura kiku menus..Here is my ode to Tempura Kiku:
