If you're practicing obtaining a RoTR boarding group at home (on a day without a HS reservation), what do you see if you would have been successful? I tried it out this morning at 7AM and got a message that the selected person did not have a park reservation for that day. Does that mean that I would have been successful if it had been the real deal? TIA!

The other route, which I have been practicing, is to use your profile page to join.

To get ready, click the three-bar menu in the bottom right to access your profile page, then choose Virtual Queues.

On your My Queues page, the Join Virtual Queues button is identical to the AT-AT Join button, as it takes you to the RotR page.

At 7:00am or 1:00pm, click Join Virtual Queues-Join-Join.

Yes, that means you likely would have been successful. At 1pm, it'll say, is everyone in the park?

The last 3 times I tried at 1:00 I was able to get through once (twice today), but they were gone by 1:00:20 or sooner.

Yay, congrats! Was everyone that scanned into the park with you today preselected this time or did you just get the bg for yourself and go to the guest experience team to get everyone else added?

I didn’t look, I just kept hitting join. Once I got the BG I checked MDE and we were all listed.

is there a screenshot what does it say when ALL BG are gone?
ie how do I know if they are gone in seconds vs minutes and should keep trying/give up?

if you are successful in getting a bg do they tell you the return time right then?
if not approx how long till you know what group/time you are supposed to ride?

What if everyone doesn’t want to ride, swap bands and some go twice?
I see unchecking people will most likely make you miss out.

is entering the ride all magic band based, you don’t need to show the app do you?
the ones riding don’t all have phones and most don’t have the app And the person most likely trying to secure the bg has a different account then the ones who will ride.

You get a red error box stating all groups are full.

You get an approximate return time then you keep an eye on the app to see how things are progressing. You should also get a push notification when your group is called.

Yes, you could.

So if I am on my plane headed to WDW and the plane wifi is miraculously perfect and I secure a BG for this while I am in the air at 7am what are the chances that if I get a higher BG# that it will be called before 12:30pm? And if I do by some miracle get a BG at 7am will that prevent me from trying for a BG at 1pm?

If you get a boarding group, just go to RotR ride when you get to DHS. They’re pretty flexible in most cases as long as your group was called.

I thought that as the case. I still think I should wait until the 1pm attempt to be sure they do not have an issue with me arriving late. I would hate to get BG 5 or 6 and have them call me to the ride at 9am while I am still in the air and when I get to the park at 12:30pm they tell me I have to wait until another day.

Me too. I haven't missed a practice attempt yet when I try but the "day of" will be different.

Yeah if you are absolutely sure you can be to the park and scanned in by 1, that would probably be better. Sounds like you’d have a very iffy chance at 7am anyway

Me too. I haven't missed a practice attempt yet when I try but the "day of" will be different.

Yes, the distribution is quick and nerve wracking, but the majority of people on this site are able to come away successful either at 7 or 1 by using the tips mentioned and practicing a few times ahead of time so you know what to expect day of. Just be patient and think positive. You’ll do fine!

I didn't even know practicing was a thing. I'm going to start trying it today. Is there a particular world clock or something I should be trying to use to manage the seconds? I guess instead of asking that I should stop being lazy and look through the prior 10 pages of notes

There are very few people on this board who have been unable to get a BG when following the steps in the first post and preferably, practicing. It can happen but it's not often.

We have not ridden yet and I have practiced almost daily for over 6 months but if we're locked out, I refuse to let it ruin our trip. It's one ride out of many so we'll move on and continue to have a great trip!
