Anyone have any interesting ways to tell the kids that we are going to disney. Their ages are DD7, DS5, DD16months.

Last year, we didn't tell our two DDs until the day we left for WDW. We woke them up at about 6am and said we're going to WDW. We got them dressed and left for the airport. They were soooooooooo happy! :teeth:

I am surprising DGS with a story card. I used a really cute photo of a little boy wearing a mouse ears hat standing next to Mickey and looking into a snow globe with the castle inside. I put a scanned photo of DGS's face over the boys face. I will put this image inside the homemade story card.

I still need to figure out something for the cruise part of the story card, using the same method of putting DGS somewhere in a cruise ship scene. I haven't written the short story yet, but it will be fun to do.

Weeelll, I thought I was being very creative last time and made a treasure hunt for them (ages 8,5, and 5 at the time). I had cute little riddle hints to lead them to the next clue. They got to the last clue and figured out it meant we were going to DW. My 8 year old went out on the porch VERY upset.... When I asked why, he said he really thought there would be a PS2 at the end of the treasure hunt! LOL! He still loved DW anyway!

That is so funny about the PS2! The cake was very cute. Thank you for all the great ideas. I have another thread on this topic on the tips board. Being new to the boards I thought maybe I put it on the wrong one so I just put it on both. But anyway there are some other ideas there as well if you are interested.
Thanks again

we told the kids in dribs and drabs... like we're thinking of it... help me convince daddy... wouldn't it be fun if... etc... and finally we told them it was 'real' and we were going at the end of the month... now that we're only a few days out, we told them we are leaving tuesday of next week but we're really leaving monday... so, rather than have them wide awake all sunday night in anticipation, they will sleep well and we'll wake 'em at 4am and ask if they want to go a day early and if so, get up and get in the van... and off we'll go for our 7am flight!!

That is SUCH a great idea - telling them you're not leaving until the next day!!! We may have to do that!
