Tell the kids or surprise them?

We leave on wednesday morning and i'm telling my dauther tonight at dinner. we're going to dinner at garfield's (her choice) and i bought a bunch of little 'hints' to give her. In a princess bag i put rain ponchos, mickey mouse playing cards, mnnie mouse key chain, portable battery operated fans, insulated water bottle, sunscreen, chapstick and sunglasses. (oh, and today at lunch i'm going to wal-mart and getthing the Happiest Celebration on Earty CD.) and if she totally doesn't get it,the item in the very bottom of the bag is a wdw brochure with our itinerary wrapped around it.

i guess its sort of a suprise, but sort of not. she has a few days to be excited about it and plan some things. up until tonight she has no clue and i htink she'll be very suprised and excited.

This will be DS5 third trip, and we love sharing the plans with him! He is so excited and really into the countdown. Everyday, he puts another sticker on the calendar to mark off the day and announces the number of days we have left! He has his own plan about what he wants to do in the parks too: (not necessarily in this order!) Kali River Rapids,Test Track, Big Thunder (it was being refurbished last time), Splash Mountain, the Magic Carpets, Star Tours and maybe a second go on TT! We just love that he is so excited - it makes the trip that much better for us!

I read with interest those of you who surprise your kids with the trip! It sounds like a great plan, but I just don't think I can contain my own excitement to actually be able to pull it off!!

We are surprising DD this fall- it will be fun!

We initially planned our trip for the very beginning of November, and DD knew about it. She has given lots of input as to where to eat, what rides she wants to go on, etc. We were all excited, but every post I read about parents surprising their kids made me wish I could do that with DD.

Fast forward to Wednesday... I found out about the free Dining plan offer. Well, DH and I talked it over, and decided to change our dates so we could take advantage of free food. So, now we are going the very beginning of October- but DD still thinks we are going in November! This is good, because she can still plan and save up her allowance for Disney $s.

I'm planning to get her up the morning we drive to WDW, and fib that we are going to Grammy's house for the weekend (Grammy is a 5 hour car ride away). When we pull up at the entrance to WDW, we'll tell her "we just couldn't wait, so we decided to come early!" I think she'll be excited and surprised. :flower:
