Tell me your favorite things about Topsail Island

We have been looking into a NC area beach and have decided on North Topsail Island. Just wondering from those who have been there what your favorite things to do and where your favorite places to eat are. We are also looking to go to the outlets one day. I am guessing that we will have to go to Wilmington for that? Thanks for any suggestions!

There really aren't outlets in Wilmington. Maybe Myrtle Beach area? We just moved down here last summer, I don't know the area all that well yet. All I know about Topsail Island is, the schools don't have strings (which made it a deal-breaker, I have 2 kids who play).

There are plenty of things to do and restaurants to enjoy, though. And tons of furniture places, but I don't know if that's the kind of outlet shopping you had in mind.

Check out the sea turtle sanctuary / museum in topsail. The battleship north carolina in Wilmington. There is ice cream in the bait shop on the pier in surf city. Daddy macs and sears landing also in surf city are nice places with pretty good food.

If you are in North topsail, the closest grocery is food lion in Sneads ferry. A nicer grocery is Harris teeter, but further.

It's such a wonderful, beautiful and chill area. Have a great vacation!

No outlets in Wilmington - you would need to go to Myrtle Beach, Smithfield or Mebane.

The sea turtle hospital that the PP mentioned is well worth the trip.

Topsail is my family's favorite place to visit in the summer! Nice quiet beaches, just enough other activities to do (fishing on the pier, jetskiing, minigolf, etc.). They have a new Walmart grocery store which is very convenient. I hope the secret of Topsail doesn't get out! lol

Thanks for the replies. I was hoping Wilmington had outlets. I dont think we will go all the way to MB for the day. Oh well, Im sure we will find somewhere to shop in the area We have had lots of suggestions to go to the Sea Turtle place so we will definitely do that! Does anyone have any suggestions for a photographer in the area of Topsail? My granddaughter is turning 1 the week after we leave so my daughter wanted to get her one year photos at the beach. Thanks!

There are plenty of places to shop, just not outlets. Mayfaire is an easy drive (10-15 minutes), and it's designed to be like a little town--you park and walk to different shops. Another fun shopping place is Blue Moon Gifts, which is like a permanent craft fair with dozens of different vendors.
