We'll be on the dining plan and are not planning to spend much time on breakfasts (aside from 2 character bkfst for the kids). I'd rather NOT bring food from home for bkfst as we RARELY ever go out to eat anywhere so I'd appreciate the opportunity to have a bit of variety from stuff we do at home.

We'll be staying at Poly and the options at Capt Cooks look pretty limited.

Looking for ideas of how to maximize the dining plan...either using snack credits or maybe good places for DH and I to be able to split a CS credit.

I've heard of some good stuff at Mainstreet Bakery...is this considered to be a CS credit or snack? (Bkfst sandwich, for example or French Toast Loaf, etc). And what about the other parks...what types of things do you do for bkfsts if you're not huge eaters in the morning?

THANKS!

Main st. bakery has some breakfast options first thing in the am. They can be used as snacks or counter service- it depends on how much you get. You need to get there early though as they pack up and switch to regular fare pretty quickly.
There are often karts- along main walkways in the parks- first thing in the morning that sell pastries, juice and fruit. Makes an okay breakfast on the go.
On the days that we didn't make BF ressies we would have cereal in our room before leaving for the park.
You do know that you can make early morning bf ressies for inside the park and get in before the gate opens, don't you??? It's a great way to start the day with no lines and great photo ops with no other goofballs in your pictures!

Yes, thanks! I do plan to do that 2 days while we're there. But we're not huge eaters in the morning......THANKS again!

I would bring a few things from home. You don't want to waste precious time first thing in the am waiting in line at the Main street bakery and eating. That is the best time to hop on the rides with no line. I don't know how old your kids are, but I would suggest eating in the room, could get counter service and bring it back to split or packing granola bars etc and eating them while waiting for the rope to drop.

My kids never eat well first thing in the am. They liked the go gurts etc.
We always at lunch around 11 ish and beat the crowds at cs places and dinner was always at 5. It worked great

Thanks...sounds like some good advice to me from a Disney-with-kids expert. haha My Kids will be 2.5 and almost 4 when we go. Maybe I need to order some stuff from garden grocer, etc....to have in the room. We'll need some milk, juice boxes anyhow. We're flying and not sure how much I'd want to pack into suitcases.

THANKS!

We also bring some food from home, a box or two of cereal, some cereal/fruit bars and Pop-tarts (a vacation treat for the kids). then we use our snack credits for milk, juice and fruit from the counter services restaurant (captain cooks at the poly). It does take up some room to pack food but then there is extra room on the way home. Another bonus of eating in the room is extra sleep. It always amazes me how long it takes to eat breakfast anywhere is WDW. You need to get there, wait in line, find a seat and eat. We haven't used a grocery delivery services since the delivery fee negates the saving over buying the juice/milk/fruit from the counter service restaurant.

On several mornings I used a snack credit to get an orange-pineapple smoothie from Auntie Gravity's in MK or KRNR in MGM. They are WONDERFUL for breakfast and my dd (then 6) loved them, too. Other mornings I used a snack credit for a yogurt parfait or fruit bowl from the food court-I can't remember if I saw them at Capt. Cook's, but they probably have them there.

I'm not sure about what is included on the Dining Plan but you can always get breakfast items the night before to have the next morning. For example, exiting Magic Kingdom, go to the Bakery and get some things for the next morning.

Also remember if you are staying at the Polynesian, the Grand Floridian and the Contemporary are along the monorail for different options.

We are not huge breakfast eaters either so last yr we would throw breakfast bars in the diaper bag and use snack credits for bowls of fruit. My girls were
3 1/2 and 1 and they would share a bowl of grapes and a breakfast bar shortly after arriving at the park and were good to go until lunch. Grapes were great because they travel well and we could take any leftovers back to the room for them to snack on.

Pop tarts in the room are always a good, cheap alternative.

When at MGM, I love to grab a cinamon roll at Starring Rolls Bakery. They're not too expensive, and might even count as a snack credit on the dining plan.

Breakfast at Trails End Buffeteria in Fort Wilderness, just a monorail and boat ride away, is one of the cheapest buffet breakfasts on WDW property.

We've always ordered from Garden Grocer. But here are some breakfast ideas we've tried:

-breakfast bar or poptart
-I've also bought a box of cereal and split it up into baggies (from home) for the kids to eat at the bus stop.
-Buy a box of pop 'ems (doughnut holes) from the food court and have that with some milk (from Garden Grocer).
-Goldfish (also from Garden Grocer)

Hi from Baltimore Willcad - yes the cinamon rolls and other pastries at Starring Roles can be had for a snack credit

We get bagels from Garden Grocer and toast them in the morning when we go down with our refillable mugs for coffee. It's such a ritual, all the sleepy people walking towards the food court with their mugs, and for some reason I just love it :goodvibes! Freshly toasted bagels are nice in the morning with a little jelly on top, and cost next to nothing when you bring them with you. We also order cream cheese from GG but that only stays fresh for a few days in the ice chest! So after that it's jelly on them bagels, with a Pop Century breakfast platter thrown in now and again for good measure :goodvibes!

If I wasnt staying at a hotel that offered a free continental (portable) breakie, Id be bringing some cereal bars, bananas, and bottled water myself :goodvibes

We had the DDP and 2 kids similar in age to yours. We did order from GG. This is what worked for us. We order 2 half gallons of milk, cereal bars, 2 lbs of red grapes, Go-gurt (squeeze yogurt), juice boxes (not to necessary with juice available in the food court), and a box of donuts, as well as some water. We had 2 late breakfast buffets booked. One thing on the DDP plan that worked well for us for breakfast was using a snack credit for an Uncrustable. Now DS 4 is hooked! They made a great breakfast for both boys. They were easy to be on the go with. We ate at the main street bakery twice. We used snack credits and cs credits. You get 2 drinks when you use a cs at breakfast, so you may be able to mix it up a bit. Apple dippers were also a good snack for breakfast and were easy to carry.

All great ideas! THANKS so much to all of you for helping me get my brain rolling with ideas!

Someone mentioned taking bagels (from Garden Grocer) downstairs to toast. I do beleive their is a toaster at Cpt Cooks at the Poly...so it's ok to bring my own food from the room to toast there? Way cool!

What is the min order at Garden Grocer?

THANKS again!

We tried to hit a bakery on our way back to our room each night and used a snack credit or two to get something to keep in the room for breakfast each morning. Then we would eat while getting ready or while waiting for the bus. Even at 10pm the Main Street Bakery had lots of muffins, cinnamon rolls etc.. left.

You could use snack credits to buy yogurt, cereals, bagels, etc the night before. I think the deluxe resorts have refrigerators, but the ice bucket will work if something needs to be cold. Have fun and don't sweat it. Eat when you and your family is hungry and it'll all work out. Don't try to force it just to get your money's worth.

My sister in law had a really good idea. If you dont feel like eating dessert after your CS or TS meal, take the dessert to go and eat it for breakfast (assuming you have means to keep it cool).

We also bring 'zone' or other cereal bars and since we are at the Villas, we buy milk, cereal, and bananas for breakfast.

Either way, I don't waste time standing in a breakfast line for sure.
