We are going on our first ever DCL and are arriving 1 day early. I wish we could be there longer, but if we only get 1 day, ill take it.

We were able to get a room at SS renting dvc points.

We have not stayed here before. Can you tell me about it? We are just staying in a studio for 1 night, then its off to the cruise.

We liked it. We stayed in the Springs section which was near the main pool. My inlaws just recently stayed in the section that has the down town Disney views and that was very nice also. They were by the quit pool and the children's playground. They had a studio and it was very nice. The other section is the Paddocks and although that is not really known for being by anything, I have also heard good reviews on that section also.

For the life of me the section name by Downtown Disney is slipping my mind. As soon as I post this I will have to do a search.

Will you like it...... probably not. Here is why:

1) size of the resort. If you have small children or any difficulties walking then this place isn't for you. Long haul everywhere and god forbid if you leave something back in the room.

2) eat by the pool? not here, you must go inside to get food even though you'll likely be dripping wet.

3) sit at the bar and have a drink? Nope, it ismore of a walk up type and very small. Way to small for a resort this size.

4) Carrying in luggage and groceries. Enjoy those 10 trips up and down because there are no bel carts to help you. They designed a condo resort without this basic feature found everywhere else.

5) Theme??? What theme it could be a condo anywhere for gods sake. You might not even feel like you are in Flroida or at Disney. No magic to be found.

6) shoddy workmanship and lack of attention to detail. A kid could paint better and trim better than this construction crew. Looks terrible, really.

7) Room service after a long day: No, not going to get it here.

Sorry to say but SSR has become an albatross around the neck of DVC Execs. They will really have to WOW with the next resort or the whole ship will sink. SSR = a DVC miss. They see values as the equivalent of SSR. They have been moving value resort guest to SSR for quite some time now free of charge. Some value resort guest have declined the offer. Go figure.

We just returned from a trip to SSR. We liked the resort just fine. It is not our favorite DVC resort because we like the hotel DVC resorts the best, but we still liked SSR just fine.
We were in the Congress Park section and had a very nice view of DTD. We prefer the Springs section because we like to be close to the main pool, dining and the boat dock. But we liked CP and would stay there again.
Have a great trip. Is this your first Disney Cruise? If so, you will love it. The DCL is expensive but it is so nice!

I personally did not like Saratoga Springs. To me it did not feel like a resort. It felt more like a big apartment complex...the size of the parking lots is just overpowering. Some say that it's proximity to Dowtown Disney is a plus... I can stay at a nearby hotel without wasting my points. But to me, OKW is a better value. May you have a happy trip.

Well, I see that you like the GF. You've also stayed at WL - did you like it there? WL used to be my favourite resort - I loved it - until I stayed at Saratoga. It is beautiful, and relaxing, and the rooms are elegantly furnished. I think you will love it, and you will adore the cruise - it is fab.

I took my fiance on his first Disney trip in December - we did the poly, then the cruise, then saratoga, and he loved it all, but he loved the accommodations at saratoga the best. The spring section is our favourite, as it's so convenient to the main building, pool etc. IMHO the spa is also better at saratoga.

Was there available parking near the main areas, near the check-in area/main pool, etc? I requested the Congress Pk area for our stay so we'd be a close walk to DTD, but thought if the walk was too long to the main areas at SSR we could drive and park???

There is parking near the main areas but I dont think you will need them. SSR is not nearly as large as it looks as far as walking from CP to the main pool, it took us no more than 5 min taking our time. Relax and enjoy :cool1:

I too LOVE SSR............. enjoy your trip!!!
