Tell me why you love (or hate) the Yacht and Beach Club

Yacht Club / Beach Club is arguably the best place to stay when visiting the wonderful world of Disney. I would avoid Yacht Club Galley though, last visit there in Feb was AWFUL, the food was bad, they don't know how to cook a steak and the service was poor, people in my party were finishing their meals when others were just getting theirs! I highly recommend Yachtsman Steakhouse although expensive you are guaranteed a great meal and service. And of course I will not leave out Beaches and Cream which has the best tasting ice cream on Disney property along with outstanding burgers and salads in my opinion. Add all this to the proximity of these two beautiful resorts and its a no brainer !!!

Vince, I really think that the major problem with the Yacht Club Galley is that they have been closing it during the slower times of the year and then reopening it when it gets busy. The result is a chef/food service staff that never seems up to speed. It's unbelievable that a hotel of the caliber of the Yacht Club does not have a moderately priced, full service restaurant on site 365 days per year.

We stopped at Beaches and Cream on the way home after staying at WL, We waited 30 minutes to place an order and 30 minutes to receive the order. After we were told the wait for sit down in B&C was 40 minutes. With such volume that they do here why cant they make it larger or have a different system to place and pick up orders? Food was worth the wait, the chicken cesear salad was awesome... :flower:

I love the location and the pool and the hotel itself is really nice. I hated the fact there are no quick cheap places to eat (other than take out at Beaches and Cream). The restaurants on the boardwalk just didn't appeal to us. I didn't like the bus service either. When we stayed there it stopped at all the Epcot area resorts.

I'm looking to stay at one of the two resorts for a January 2006 vacation with my 20-year-old daughter. Would you recommend one over the other for us?

When we stayed at BWI a few weeks ago our bus only ran to BWI & Swan/Dolphin. Does the bus service at YC/BC stop at either Swan/Dolphin or BWI also? :confused3 if they stopped at them all, it's going to be one long bus ride.

I'd like to also know if you liked one over the other as well....inquiring minds want to know. :rotfl:

And we always loved the AKL, but last year I found a great deal at BC with a king room. Epcot is our favorite park, and being able to walk there was a major plus. We also had reserved one of the dinners during the F & W Festival, so another plus for walking.
Bus service was terrific.
We really loved our room, even though the balcony was a little small (smaller than AKL). But the bed was wonderfully comfy, and the resort was quiet.

BC is now my new favorite!

No not anymore! It use to stop at all of them now the bus just goes to Yacht and beach. (Atleast that is how it was in Sept) :flower:

Well, they have different perks...if you want to guarantee a full balcony, the Yacht Club features balconies on all the rooms (at the Beach club, some of them are partial balconies). The Beach club is a bit more relaxed, while the Yacht Club is slightly more elegant...but they are both elegant to a certain degree. Layout and room size are virtually identical...you are slightly closer to Epcot at the Beach Club but there is the same access to Stormalong Bay. I think it would just boil down to the decor and which theme you prefer...either the elegant colonial/ nautical at the Yacht Club or the elegant Beachside Cape Cod style at the Beach club.

Have a great trip :cheer2:

I need to be in this thread! We are staying at the BC for the first time in August, and I love reading anything about it!

Y/B Club are all about location, location, location. We love being so close to Epcot! I also think that Cape May Cafe has one of the most underrated character breakfasts. The food is great and the character interaction is some of the best we've ever had!

Another fan of the BC.
1) Proximity to Epcot and the Studios.
2) Stormalong Bay
3) Cape May Buffet/Beaches & Creme/Yachtsmans Steakhouse

We've stayed at both and they are both great.

YC seems more quiet.

BC has more activity, I think because of the Villas.

We ate at the YC Galley and it was fine, good food & service in a relaxed enviroment for a fair price.

My only complaints in the past have been the bus service prior to 04', and there wasn't a place to get a quick snack like at the Poly, but I heard they added one this year.

I like:
the wood floors in the YC.
the quiet pool at the BC
the quiet lobby at the YC
the walk to epcot from the BC
and SAB!!

You can't go wrong at either.

Excellent choice. The location is the main reason, followed closely by Stormalong Bay. The CMs are top notch, the resort is elegant and beautiful. I can't think of one bad thing to say about it. We love walking to Epcot and MGM, having such an array of dining choices, and the boardwalk is bustling with fun. It's a vacation all by itself. We could go for a weekend and stay there without stepping foot into a park.

Going soon! 7/2-7/9 - Beach Club here we come.

There's a relaxed feel about the YC but also a crisp, clean feel. I love the full balconies and the location can't be beat. The view of the Boardwalk at night from YC is beautiful!! It's close enough to enjoy the nightlife there but far enough away to not be annoyed by it when you're wanting a little quiet time. The CM's at YC are the best on property!! They are absolutely my favorite.

I am so glad to hear the good reports of BC. Our family will be there for 8 days in July and we can't wait! Thanks! :flower: :goodvibes :teeth:

It's so nice to read so many positive things about a DW Resort. We'll be staying at BC for the first time. Moved up from AKL when the free dining plan came through. We were really torn on which resort to choose and ended up picking the BC after looking at the resort map and thought our chances of getting a std. room with a garden view vs. road/parking view might be better. Although, I could be wrong. But, since we don't spend much time in our room, even a less than desireable view won't bother me. After a few hours each morning at the parks, I'll be spending most of my time at Stormalong Bay or the quiet pool anyway. Never thought to walk around and check it out in our past trips because I thought I would never be able to afford to stay there. Epcot, MGM, and the Boardwalk are our faves, so we are really excited to be staying at the BC. 93 days and counting..... :flower:

We've stayed at the YC three times and consider it to be the best resort at Disney! The location, the pool and the ambience can't be beat. The only negatives I can think of is that there's no really convenient place to get a quick, cheap meal and sometimes a convention can take over a bit. During one of our trips, there were new cars parked all over the lawn b/c of an auto dealers convention. It's still the resort we'll choose every time unless budget dictates otherwise!

We love the BC too. Best pool Disney has to offer I think. We always stay the week of July 4 and General Motors is checking in as we check out. I bet that is why there were new cars parked everywhere.

B&C is gret but very busy. Hurricae Hannahs is always a line too. Guess everyone knows how great the place is.

The new Marketplace they have opened may help in the quick bite to eat problem.

Only drawback for us is I would liek to have self serve access to refill my mug without having to stand in line at B&C or HH's. I think I may have read the Marketplace will have a self serve bv center. I'll know in 3 weeks.
