Please tell me why you chose your trip for Aug or Sept for that free dining. I am going to do one of them but can't decide on which. I am concerned that Aug is soo hot and crowded... but Sept is school time(not that I mind my kid missing)... I would jump on Aug but really do not want to be sorry with the heat. We are night people so we don't get going till about 1pm each day... now that has got to make a difference. Also, is parks open later in Aug than Sept? Flights cheaper when? Ahhhh so hard to chose HELP! :confused3 :confused3

I am thinking Thur Aug 24th- Fri Sept 1 8 nites or Wed Sept 20th- Thur Sept 28...

If you were me .....

I am in college and cannot afford to miss too many day of school so i am going 8/27 - 9/2 when the crowds are not too bad. I am trying to prepare for the heat, i bought 2 of those spray fans for me an DH and a fan that hangs around your neck and blows air up and a stroller fan for the baby. I am about to buy another stroller fan to attach at the top for the person who has to push it. Also i am bring ice packs and plan to take breaks, wake early and tour the parks then go back at night when it is not tooo bad. We will be utilizing the pool also.

I would go in September if i could because the crowds will be so much less after labor day and i think its like in the 80's during that time so not that bad.

Also, the flights that i see are about the same and cheaper if you fly on a weekday. If you only plan to tour after 1 you may want to check out the park hours. See what time they close because sometimes during off season they close pretty early.

thanks for the info! I was thinking Sept too, was 1st worrying about school for DD a bit, but not too much as it will be review mostly... but now I am wicked nervous for hurricane season then too, either Aug or Sept. darn!

I would suggest that you get trip insurance. I know some on these boards dont but i did get it. If one hits at least you know you will be covered. Go have fun enjoy free dining but make sure you book now and make those ADRs. The resturants are starting to fill up!!!
For some hlpeful info check out mousesavers.com and allearsnet.com

mousesavers halped me get the best deals on everthing and mary talks about the free dining times and hurricane season on there also.

thanks and yes I saw that trip ins from her site, that is what got me thinking... man I am just not sure what to do.

I am also in college but the temptation of less crowds, and value season has led me to book in September, the free dining came up after we booked, so it was just an added bonus

iF you could stay till 9/29 you could go to mnsshp...that is our plan

true and Sept 22nd is DD bday AND there is a MNSSHP that night YAY another score for that date!

Free dining & 30th anniversary = trip to WDW with insurance

With school starting back, I figured Sept would be less crowded. We went last year ept 17th-24th and it was great. No crowds (except at all TS meals). Most rides were a walk on. We'll be there this year Sept 22nd-30th.

If I could get away in September, that would be my choice. We go the last week in August, and it's very hot. The crowds build as you near Labor Day. September will probably be a little cooler, and the crowds lower. I would also love to go to the MNSSHP.

My son graduates in 2007. Once he is away at college, we will go to WDW in September.

We are going Sept 27th-Oct 1st. I wanted to go to MNSSHP, my DD will miss 1 1/2 days of school, also since we start the day after Labor Day it will only be the third week of school.

As far as crowds, I don't know, the last 4 times we went was the week before Easter. It will probably seem more manageable to me.

I have been informed it will still be very hot and humid then also. :sunny:

right still hot in Oct... looking at the almanac for last year, Aug ave was 95, Sept 91, not much difference there.

Just be careful of the "less crowd" syndrome... I really am trusting what I'm reading, most people that are posting here are leaving sometime within the last week of Sept. last year the posts were more going during the week of Columbus day, and THAT week was the last week of free dining - and it was CROWDED - and yes if you followed the plan, and etc etc you didnt wait in lines etc... but it was still a SHOCK to have wall to wall people!!

Now I know from reading the boards, the week before Columbus day had low crowds, so I made my plans thinking I'd get there before the crowds - hah - free dining is ending a week earlier than last year - so everyone is going the same week!! :rotfl:

So, as long as I "expect" large crowds, and I plan for crowds, I'll be prepared in my mind... but I"ll bet Disney wont be prepared!!

We went last year Oct5-8 and it was still hot, and it was CROWDED because of Columbus day. We still had fun!!!

So when are you going? I know crowds are probably lighter in Sept, but I am thinking of Aug as to not have DD miss school so that we can do May next year... can't do two trips in the school year missing school. Also, I was there New Years and crowds were nuts. I am used to 90 min waits and all that, we learned how to get around the crowds... I think its an art LOL

Hey, miss missy - ! (Love Steven Wright!!!)

We have been August travellers, as well as October.I booked the end of September for me and DD - yes, she will miss school. And I am NOT counting on temperatures being appreciably cooler. While I HOPE crowds are much reduced with fewer little kids, FDP throws a wrench in that plan.

All THAT aside - ! - according to Park Hours schedule currently posted - we get to do Spectro two nights, Fantasmic, and - the added bonus of MNSSHP on our last MK night(for the 3rd time - thanks to being talked into it on these boards!!LOL).

Like you, we are late-goers to the parks and will use the night time EMH.

I figure air's a gamble - SWA hasn't posted their dates for all of September yet and they will no doubt go up...

So - we'll be at POR for 6 nights last week of September - Go for it!! cya there!!

We are going Aug. 23 - 27. Crusing is our favorite vacation and we got an excellent rate out of Port Canaveral for the week of Aug. 27 - Sept. 3. We simply couldn't go all the way to Orlando and not plan for Disney - at the time of booking we weren't really aware of what Free Dining was. Like you, this time is best for us as we have a grade-schooler (starts back on Tuesday after Labor Day) and also may want to get away over the winter or next spring.

Crowds I guess we can live with, but we're becoming VERY concerned about the heat. This week we're having an unheard of heat-wave here in Calgary. It's been 30c for two days (about 85f). Everyone's miserable. Homes aren't air conditioned and nobody has a tan :sad2: . Also, heat or no heat, humidity is non-existant here. Hot and damp v.s. cool and dry - I'm not sure how we're going to handle it (and the following week in the Caribbean).

Annette :wave2:
