Tell me somewhere "neat" and good to eat at or near MGM. I'll be on the Dining Plan so cost isn't really the issue.

The best is Brown Derby. second choice is Moma Melrose. Then maybe 50's primetime. Kids would like SiFi. :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

The DW and I love the Sci Fi Dine In. Stick with Burgers and the shakes are great.

We were just there and loved our lunch at Mama Melrose (just a walk up - no ADR - but it was 2nd week in January). Sci Fi was fun too - but agree on sticking with the basics - burgers, fries etc. The counter service choices are not my favorite at MGM. Have fun.

The pizza was good and it came with a simple salad. Plus, there are no kid's meals so the kids got pizza too.

If you are looking for somewhere "around" MGM I would suggest Beaches and Cream at the Yacht and Beach Resort. It is just a short boat ride or walk from MGM.

It is a soda shop that has GREAT burgers and FANTASTIC ice cream. Unless things have changed it counts as counter service and not table service.

I am sure that others will agree that the food is worth the short trip from the park.

Our kids love the Sci-Fi if your in the mood for burgers and milkshakes. We love the Brown Derby except in January we ate there and my DH and I ordered the Cobb salad and we didn't like it. People rave about it but it wasn't for us. It was chopped salad with a citrus taste. But my DS's had a steak and they loved it! Their food is very good and the restaurant is neat with the decorations and round booths. We have also in the past eaten at the Primetime and hollywood and Vine and both were great. My DS even loves to get the Turkey legs at the stand near RnR and ToT. Good luck! :cheer2:

Isnt the Brown Derby 2TS now? maybe its changed - go to www.allearsnet.com and check out the Dining Menus for MGM - for us we enjoyed Hollywood and Vine Buffet, lots of choices, we could eat quickly and get the Fantasmic Pkg... my friend is still upset I didnt try the Cobb Salad and Brown Derby tho...

for the CS meal, if you time it right the Backyard Express ( its close to Indiana Jones Stunt show, get there BEFORE that show lets out!!) is a great choice, I enjoyed the salad, my parents, dh all had a great meal compared to the food at ABC Commissary... just our opinion tho!!

I have a question of SCI FI. We have a 4:15 dinner reserved and we are on the dining plan. It sounds like we would be better of sticking to their lunch menu and ordering burgers. Can we get burgers at dinner time?

deelam,
Yes - you can get a burger for dinner at Sci Fi. I just did in January. I had read the Sci Fi food reviews here and wanted to stick to the basics, but we got there for an early dinner. Burgers are not on the menu, but I just asked and the waiter said no problem. Have fun!

Stay away from Hollywood and Vine - 30min wait with ADRs - servers that are nonexistant because they are so rushed off their feet - and mediocre buffet.
For counterservice we really enjoyed ABC Commissary - tasty food, good portions, good variety. Comfy atmosphere.
