Tell me what your planning on getting your 10/11 year old boys for Christmas

Ugh my ds11 is the pits. He doesn't really play with anything either. He has a wii and a ds but other than maybe picking up a few ds games I have no clue what to get him either. It's such a struggle every year. He got the DS last year for Christmas but barely uses it. I can't wait till he's into clothes or something. He likes sports and plays them all but needs nothing for them.

legos - books - wimpy kid series - clothes - I am already watching sales - scored a ds game mine wanted for less than 7 on the goldbox deal at amazon.

Legos, Legos, & MORE Legos :) He has a DS but wants to upgrade it to the DSI XL ??? Not even sure what that is :confused3

Can't wait for Christmas :) :santa:  :santa:

When my DD was about 11 my brother made her a coupon book. He filled it with McDonald cards, passes to area attractions (The Museum of Science etc). Things like that. I loved it bc it was clutter free and got us out doing things. Just a thought.

DS is 11 - his wish list includes XBox games and Legos - he'd love an iPad, however that's way too expensive - I finally scored a 32GB HP Touchpad *$162 shipped to my door! So he'll get that!!

My oldest son (11 yo) is asking for a Ipod Touch too....where did you find it for that price?

TIA

How about a pair of Reebok Zig tech sneakers. They are very popular now and you can go to the website and custom design some sneakers right down to the color of stitching and even have his name put on them. My son wants those! I also plan on getting him an itunes card. I really need to cut down this Christmas but how will I ever explain that Santa only brought a thing or two to my kids when their friends got a ton of stuff from him. I am so tempted to spill the beans this year :confused3 My boys are 8 & 10.

My oldest knew but my youngest (almost 10) didn't, I ended up telling him last night for that very reason. He just couldn't understand WHY Santa couldn't/wouldn't bring all this expensive stuff so I just told him & reminded him of the real reason for Christmas. He was very upset at first but eventually calmed down. I feel bad but didn't feel I had a choice. :confused3

DS10 and DS7 both really want a 3DS but I'm not sure if we can swing it for either one. By the look of this board I think we will get them legos.

We do have a WDW trip planned for January and we were going to tell them about it for Christmas - but I think DS10 has already figured it out. The little stinker asked us if we had any big family announcements because we haven't had any in a long time. I told him no announcements and he is not getting another sibling. :lmao: I hope that threw him off the scent.

My DS9 was really interested in stop motion movies over the summer so he got this for his birthday. Something he can use with all those legos. :)

Really the Klutz books have a lot of fun themes.

We are also big into Nerf guns right now. I'm considering getting them the velcro shirts or the gun set with vests.

For the person looking for deals on iTouchs. You should check out the apple refurbished section. You can get good deals on there and they still have 1 year warranties. Otherwise, closer to the holidays there will probably be some deals with gift cards (that's what I remember from last year).

If your kids are into the $$$ ionic necklaces (these have been big the last 2 years during baseball season around here), you can plan ahead for next season and get it for Christmas.

This particular brand, or just the helicopters in general?

The helicopters in general. Unless you have experience flying them they will crash and break immediately. My boys got theirs as a gift from Brookstone and they came with a one year warranty. After replacing it twice we just said forget it. When they demo those things at the malls or fairs, the person flying it has lots of practice so they look like fun. It's the ole hook and reel trick.

Mine is 9 but will be 10 six weeks after Christmas.

He is getting a remote control rock crawler. It's NOT cheap but he has been eyeing this thing forever and has really worked hard on his school work and his scouting. Plus it's about all he is getting besides clothes which I would have to buy him anyway. :thumbsup2

And I second that those helicopters don't last. I got my grown fiance one for Christmas a couple of years ago and it was broken by Christmas night. But man did they ever have fun with it while it was working.

I got this suggestion from another thread on Dis, and just used it with my kids with GREAT success.... the reason Santa doesn't bring everything they want is that parents are sent a bill in January for whatever was delivered (gotta pay those elves, right:lmao:). Anyway, we have a budget & family rules, which we email to Santa before Christmas. That way he knows what kinds of things should be delivered. :thumbsup2 We also reminded them that every family likes to explain things to their kids at different times, so they aren't allowed to share this information with their friends. ;)

We also gave "adventures" to our kids last year as their big gift (probably going to do it again this year). DS10 got a behind the scenes tour at the Aquarium with me, DS6 to go to the children's museum with just me/DH, DS8 got to go to the space camp sleepover at the children's museum with his best friend, and DD6 got a day with me shopping and having afternoon tea at in downtown Chicago. None of these items were "break the bank" (I think the most expense was DD @ $60) but the greatest gift was that each one got something very meaningful to them.

As for something to open, I'll second Snap Circuits for that age range.
