My DD wants to go back to the WCC, because the WL was our first resort stay at WDW and she'd love to go back to visit. I was thinking of trying Artist Point, but haven't heard too much about it...Can you share the food you loved, the views, etc?

I loved the cedar-plank roasted salmon (I had the Copper River salmon, which is only available for a few weeks in spring). But I'm sure the regular wild king salmon is good, too. It was perfect paired with a great Oregon pinot noir. I'm a wine geek and they have a good selection of Pacific Northwest wines, which are well-priced (good values, though not inexpensive). The crispy venison spring roll appetizer is good, too.

Overall, it's not in my top-tier of signature restaurants, but it is still very good. The dining room is casually elegant and appropriate to the location; not overly formal, but inviting and comfortable. I did think it was expensive, even by Disney standards (my fish was more than $40) and for a bit less money I'd probably rather go to Flying Fish. But I would certainly pick Artist's Point over WCC even accounting for the price difference. But then again, are you looking for fine dining or something that is more fun and casual? AP isn't lively or exciting, it's just nice.

I was looking for a nice meal, maybe a nice view of the courtyard to relive our courtyard view room, and a leisurely evening. I'd love to have a relaxing night out, beginning with the boat ride over from the CR :)

Artists Point is AMAZING. Buffalo sirloin...oh I drool thinking about it!:lovestruc

Just keep in mind it's a totally different experience than WCC, more upscale, no ketchup roundups lol. I've only been there once, did a 2 TS credit thing with it, but it was very clean and quiet, nice open floor plan where you don't feel like you're sitting with the people next to you. A few exotic things on the menu, and some normal stuff just done very nicely. I could have stayed all day and nibbled different things.

We love their portobello mushroom soup and mussels for appetizers. Their buffalo strip is amazing. It was off the menu for awhile but was back on when I was there in Sept/Oct and again in Dec. I usually get the berry cobbler, but noticed in Dec that it had changed (smaller, alot fewer berries, an orange amaretto ice cream now, instead of the black raspberry ice cream it used to come with, and no lemon drizzle). Can you tell I loved the old version, but did not care for the new one.:rotfl:

OT: When we were there in Dec we had a funny incident. A large party checked in just ahead of us. There was a man in his early 30's with them wearing a cap. When the CM came up to seat them, he took one look at the guy and asked him to remove his hat. It just so happened that we were seated next to this party at one of those round tables as you first walk in. Anyway, a few minutes later, the CM walking past the tables to seat more guests, noticed the guy had put his cap back on and again asked him to remove it. The guy again placed it on the empty chair next to him, but for some reason waited only a few minutes before again putting it on his head. The CM walked by and the third time told the man in not as nice a tone, "Please sir, remove your hat." The guy apologized again and said he was sorry, but kept forgetting as he never went anywhere without his cap and was just used to wearing it all the time. The CM again walked off, and you guessed it, it was just a few minutes later the guy reached over, picked the cap up, and again placed it on his head. A few minutes later the CM walked by, glared at the man, but didn't say anything else. A few minutes later a manager type walked out and asked the guy to remove the cap. This time it stayed off.:rotfl::rotfl: Maybe you had to be there, but it was really funny at the time. To be fair, this guy really did just seem to forget. They were a rather loud, boisterous bunch and it seemed like during the course of the lively conversations this guy would just automatically reach over and put his hat on his head and keep talking.

We LOVE Artist Point! The food and service are excellent. My favorite thing on the menu is the mushroom soup... It looks gross, but it is AMAZING!

I also like the buffalo. I was hesitant about trying it at first, but it really is a lot like beef, only way leaner. :thumbsup2

Give it a try!

can you see the courtyard views from most tables? The buffalo sounds really good, I would have to try that and the soup...sounds delicious!

I would say that about 20% of the tables have a really good view of the courtyard. However, the decoration and atmosphere of the restaurant itself is more than enough to keep your eyes open for the entire meal, so I wouldn't really put so much focus on the view, no pun intended. :thumbsup2

Keep in mind if you do the buffalo you have to be willing to eat it on the rare side, no farther than medium. Because it doesn't have the fat like a regular piece of beef, it dries out and get tough really quickly.

OT: To lissiesmom, is Lissie short for something? My name is Alyssa and my family still calls me Lissy

Artist Point is our new favorite "nice" dinner. We love California Grill, but AP is much more laid back and intimate feeling. We've never had a table with a view, but haven't really noticed. The service has always been top notch. Last year I had the salmon, but I had the regular filet last week (almost tried the buffalo but changed my mind at the last minute.)

Wine selection is AMAZING!

best service of any disney restaurant. we nearly missed our ADR b/c the boat which the guy on the dock said 20 min actually took WAY longer, i think b/c of the fireworks. We finally got to our already near closing ADR to find that we were so late they had to ask the chef if we could be seated. Luckily they did and the waitress still spent a TON of time talking with us, she was so friendly and seemed genuinely interested in our vacation and disney wedding. We also enjoyed the food. They gave us free chamagne, a free appetizer.. even though we were on the deluxe dining plan, and 2 free mickey shaped straws, probably a dessert too but i dont remember.. it was a year ago.

It was my DH favorite place!

Atmosphere.
Excellent service.
Beautiful table settings.
Food delicious! (Buffalo, Mussels, Portobello soup)
Wine, fabulous.

We cant wait to go back. It is very romantic and peaceful.;) One of our top 10 favorites.

We love AP....like everyone else had mentioned it has great food, wonderful service, and if you are lucky enough to get a view by one of the windows, it is amazing. We were just there this past December (my B-day trip) and they put us at the "best seat in the house"....it was a table in the far corner that looked out at the water fall and courtyard, it was very pretty. Plus the view of the restaurant was awesome as well, we could see all the beautiful artwork. Artist Point is in our top must do restaurants, and it is #2 in my DH's top 3 favorite signature dining restaurants behind Cali Grill.

The cheese plate was nice. I had the vegetarian entree which was one of the best vegetarian entrees I've had on property. I also remember it had a nice selection of wines.

I don't remember any outstanding views. I actually think the restaurant is kind of lacking in the decor department. Maybe it's just not my cup of tea, but it has that hotel-restaurant kind of feel. And for whatever reason, it just doesn't read "upscale" to me.

celebrated our 25th anni there for dinner in 08. Had a great meal with a window seat near the outer corner of restaurant. The view at sunset was almost breaktaking for my DW. The food was very good. Not overly large portions but again very good. waiter was very good. Wouldnt recommend for children just because they may get restless with the upscale atmosphere. The added $$ for children to eat may be a bit much for some families. The bill can be a "sticker shock" to some if not expected.

I did make a ADR for our dinner and made a request for a window seat to celebrate our specail day. They did an awesome job and was very pleased.

To this day her favorite anni dinner was our 20th at Ohana's. We got a window seat looking at the castle at sunset and watched fireworks from our table. She actually cried!!!!

Now where do i go for our 30th in 2013...........

We are going to try for Chefs Table/V&As in Dec. on our 35th Anni. trip.:love::santa:
V&As just cant be beat for romance. Think about it.::yes::

I loved the buffalo the second time I ate there, that was a few years ago, and I think they've changed it since then though.

I think thats what we are gonna do next time. It seems to be THE place for a special dinner. And being at GF doesnt hurt the whole ambience either!!!
