Tell me what I need to know about going to U/IOA in October!

We're planning a trip to Florida for October 2013. First 6 days DW, last 3 Universal/IOA. My oldest son went for a day w/ my brother on our last trip but I didn't go. I have no idea about hotels/tickets, etc. I'd bought them tickets ahead of time but they upgraded to some sort of skip the line tickets when they were there.

Help me out please and thank you!

We love going in October.Are yall planing on going to Halloween Horror Nights.Dont know how old your son is but my girls are 16 and 12 and we love it.We stay onsite and your room key is your front of the line pass.Use it as many times as you like.Wonderful!!!!!Forgot, room key does not let you in front for HHN.only during the day in the parks.
