I want some stories!! :goodvibes

So our anniversary is coming up on May 31 and we are gonna take a splurge night/day. We're already going to Blue Bayou. What totally crazy/fun/romantic splurges have you done while on your magical vacation? And was it worth it? No need for exact cost or anything, I'm more looking for ideas!

Thanks!!!

I am really looking forward to everyone's stories on this. My wife and I are bringing some relatives this time around and we have a chance to go off on our own for some quality time. We are thinking of the Walk in Walt's Footsteps Tour. $40-50 with Disney Visa Discount. We talked about a nice dinner as well at like Napa Rose.

I think our best splurge will only be half helpful for your trip planning, but it was the BEST!!!

For the 2007 and 2009 NYE ring in's DH and I went to Napa Rose for their special Ring in event. It was a 7 course amazing event with some of the best food we have ever eaten and delicious wines all to match. The service was also very good!

We had Champange (well non-alcoholic wine for me in 2009 since I am preggo), appetizers, yummy food, more desserts then we could even begin to eat, including a beautiful blown sugar ornament that hid a yummy dessert inside, we received hats and horns and more wine for the ring in! They had balloons and a band and just the whole event was WONDERFUL!!!

I have to say my goal is to have my next big celebration at Napa Rose, maybe even if I am lucky at the Chef's Counter. I think it's a great place for a special meal and just love it!

Our 20th anniversary is coming up and we will be splurging at Steakhouse 55. I'm thinking about the Fantasmic thing, but not sure. I don't know how soon they sell out, but I just can't decide on that right now.

Fantasmic would be awesome, but its not going to be showing during our trip. It won't start again until June 12. :sad2:

If you two have a favorite character couple (Prince/princess) you can always get a hand drawn sketch from a Disney Artist at Off the Page and they can do personalization on the sketch as well, just an idea of something that might be a neat keepsake!

This isn't really a romantic splurge but it's a splurge none the less. :) This last trip I finally broke down and got a copy of the POTC ride poster from the Main Street tunnel on canvas and framed at Off the Page. Cool part is that you order it in the park and it's delivered to your home a couple weeks later so no need to try and fly/drive home with it. Once I got it up on the wall, I realized that I was in trouble because I like it so much, I am thinking of getting another one on our next trip (Most likely HM but still thinking).

Hopefully, I don't start thinking that three would look better. :rolleyes1

Hands down, chef's counter at Napa Rose. Third trip is in two weeks!!!:cool1:

We haven't done this splurge yet but I am planning on doing The Segway tour at DCA. My husband is not much on tours but I think the segway will help him like it a little more.

Our splurge is the Napa Rose Cooking class this weekend!
My DH and I love watching Top Chef and other cooking shows. We were thrilled at the chance to get to have share this experience.

Our best splurge is what we just did on MONDAY.

My mother's day present was the hand drawn/painted drawings done of the kids and my hubby and I outside of Blue Bayou. It's the cartoon ones. They turned out so good, we paid for the frames and everything to put on our wall.

Get it!

I wanted the Fantasyland ones for my room. Probably Matterhorn, Storybook Land and Dumbo.

For our 25th anniversary, we were given (by a member) a reservation at Club 33 for dinner. That's by far our best splurge at DL!

well first i'd start with a Character Breakfast really early
Hit the parks do a Tour
Go to Paradise Pier and have a whole kitchen sink sundae
For Dinner book Priority Seats at Hooks point( only because I love it) or Napa Rose. Have a celebration cake avail during Dinner.
Have a night massage at Mandara to end the perfect night.

Haven't done this yet in 1 day but have done most seperate...

Last March i had a hand drawn Tinkerbell done with a really nice frame in color at the art shop " Off the page" in DCA. It was aswesome watching him draw her and my frame i purchased is so nice.

Hi

Our favorite splurge was the Holiday Tour back in November.
The best part was front row seats (in chairs) for the Holiday parade at the end of the tour, complete with gingerbread cookie, hot chocolate and a pin.
My kids even enjoyed the tour.

Our other favorite splurge (my husband's favorite) was the Segway Tour of DCA.
It was $70 each after my AP discount, but sooooo worth it!

The splurge we'd like to eventually try is the Fantasmic! dessert buffet.
I have yet to find a good spot to view Fantasmic! without waiting forever.

Happy Planning!

Here's my day....

  • Stay and the GCH for the night before and after.
  • Start off the day with a Segway tour of DCA (or the free power walk of DCA that only GCH guests get to do).
  • Breakfast at Storyteller's after the walk or at Carnation Cafe in DL.
  • Head to DL (if you aren't already there) and take a Walk in Walt's Footsteps Tour.
  • Late lunch at Trattoria in DCA or skip if you aren't hungry.
  • Return to the GCH for a massage package at the Mandara Spa.
  • Early Dinner at Napa Rose (don't get dessert!) (Chef's Counter same as a normal dinner - no different foods...)
  • Fantasmic Dessert Package afterwards.
  • Fireworks and some late night rides.
  • Pick up a Hot Cocoa at the Hearthstone in the hotel (spiked or not), relax by the fire for a little bit and then upstairs to your room for a sweet goodnight!

Hurleysweety thank you for asking this question. Our anniversary is the 27th, and we'll be at DL to celebrate. We have some meals planned, but some of these ideas sound fun.

If you two have a favorite character couple (Prince/princess) you can always get a hand drawn sketch from a Disney Artist at Off the Page and they can do personalization on the sketch as well, just an idea of something that might be a neat keepsake!

Do artists stay here all day, or are there particular times to go? I'd love to get one for our anniversary. Do we need an appointment?

We would LOVE to get copies of these posters. I'm happy to hear they are available. Hmmmmmm. :rolleyes1
