We want to go as cheaply as possible on lodging for our next trip (Oct. 2004). I plan on searching up until the last possible second to get good rates on a good hotel.

However, if I can't get a real great deal on one of those...based on just the regular rates on always cheap hotels like Sleep, Travelodge, etc...what are the best?

Thanks!

I don't know what prices you are looking at, but we got Country Inn and Suites at Calypso Cay in 2001 for $69/night. This past summer, we got a kidsuite at HIFS for $87/night entertainment rate. Both were great.

I would look into Priceline, too. You could probably get a great rate through them.

Remember that October is a big month in Central Florida with conventions and all. Happy planning!

Check hotelkingdom.com for cheap hotels rates.

Do you want to go? where do you want to stay(area), and what do you want the hotel to have?

I got a 2 bedroom condo off Skyauction for $260 for a week for next week. For my extra days I got Amerisuites for $44. Priceline is a great way to go(I don't use it cause I want a suite), or Hotwire. I am sure you could find some low end hotels for about $20 a night.

Travelzoo is good along with Hotelkingdom and Valuetrips.

You can get some pretty good deals with the Orlando Magicard. For instance, the Comfort Inn Lake Buena Vista goes for around $45-49 on most hotel broker websites. You can get it thru the Magicard for $35 and that price includes a deluxe continental breakfast. If you send for the card now, you'll want to do it again after the first of the year - the card offers are thru the calendar year and then expire. If you want realllly cheap, try Priceline for $20 for a 2* closer to your date.

I get the nicest, cheapest hotels on Priceline. I would run screaming from a Sleep-Inn, Travelodge or Days Inn.

You can easily get a 2.5* hotel like the Clarion Maingate, the Holiday Inn Nikki Bird or the WDW Courtyard for under $30 per night. For $30-$40 per night you can get a 3* hotel like the WDW Doubletree Villas, the WDW LBV Best Western or the WDW Renaissance World Gate.

The advantages to Priceline are (1) you can get a NICE hotel for (2) CHEAP. The disadvantages are (1) you cannot be sure exactly which hotel you will get until your bid is accpeted and (2) your winning bid is non-refundable.

If you want to try Priceline, go to www.biddingfortravel.com to learn how to bid to get the best price. If your dates are set in stone and you are ready to bid fill out a Bidding Assistance Form at BFT and someone (maybe even me ;)) will be able to help you.

I would highly recommend the Country Inn and Suites at Calypso Cay. We've stayed there several times before checking into BWV and love it. This time of year it is $69.00 and includes a continental breakfast. There are 3 pools, free mini golf, playground and it is very close to WDW.

Be sure to look at expedia.com -- my husband and I just booked our trip through them, and they have awesome prices for great hotels!

We're staying at a Hilton for 4 nights and also got two airline tickets for the grand total of $688. The exact same trip on travelocity was almost $900!!
