Tell me more about the carriage rides!

Would you do it with two young girls?

Can 2 adults and two small children fit in one carriage?

What time of day is best?

I did it with my daughter and her two boys (my grandsons), ages 7 and 5, earlier this year. It was great. Plenty of room for the four of us. Took about 30-40 minutes, just a nice slow walk along the river and back. We did it early evening, still light out. One thing I was surprised at was they are very emphatic about tipping....no tips.

It was very enjoyable, would recommend it.

We are interested in doing this also...wondering if we would have enough time before a 6:30pm ADR at Boatwrights....Also, wondering if we should make reservations or just wing it. :confused3

Here's info from portorleans.org about the carriage rides. This particular website, by a POR-POFQ lover, keeps current with all things at the two resorts.

I know the carriage rides aren't offered during the day. Horses arrive later in the afternoon. Portorleans.org states the rides start at 6pm until 9:30pm. Says to make reservations or same day/walk-up --depending on availability. My DD did the ride with her new DH. I have never been on. But I love hearing the clip-clop along the paths, especially at POFQ. It's a really nice addition to the overall charm of POR/POFQ.

Thanks! So it looks like it won't fit in before our ADR and don't think we'd have enough time before Yee Haa Bob at 8:30pm....dang it!! ? Wish they started just a wee bit earlier in the evening

Yehaa Bob shows just roll along. Not like a concert with a beginning and an end. If you miss a little, you're not missing anything. People constantly coming and going. And his show is the same every night. Honestly, I wish he varied his sets. If you really wanted to do the carriage ride, I wouldn't worry about breaking away from Yehaa Bob for half an hour or so.

I did the carriage ride last month at POR. My first attempt was a walk-up, the driver told me reservations are required, it is rare for them to have walk-up availability. I pressed the "recreation" button on my room phone. They took my credit card info to hold the reservation, but I paid by cash. I did leave a small tip and it was accepted with thanks (PP mentioned they refused tips).

It was me, my wife and daughters, age 14 & 7. Plenty of room in the carriage. They took us on a tour of POFQ which I really enjoyed. It was nice to see another resort.

I called and reserved it last night.

They told me the hours were 5:30pm to 10:30pm.

I booked a 5:30pm spot. I gave my credit card to hold and they told me that you pay before the ride.

I am going it before our 1900 Park Fare dinner. We will be staying at POR. This will be a treat for our last night. I planned a 5:30pm carriage ride before a 7:15pm 1900 Park Fare and then back to MK for fireworks and the parade!

A magical last night! :)
