Tell me how you like and how often you use you Xyron

I just bought a 500 one for my friend who is also my sister-inlaw for Christmas. I don't have one but wanted to know if you think they are an essential scrapbooking item.

I saw the small ones but I thought the 500 was better please let me know what you think.

I love my xyron; I have the 850. I used it all the time on everything, until I realized I was going through cartridge refills like crazy, and they're not cheap! Now I use it on intricate items like letters and embellishments. I also found a great use for it. I print out a title on my printer, run it through the xyron (repositionable adhesive) and stick it on my cardstock. I then cut out the letters and unstick the copy paper. It is lot easier than tracing and cutting. You can also use it on paper piecing patterns.

I love my xyrons!! I have both the little x and the 500. I use them for everything! I bought my dd one to put in her xmas stocking too. I use the little x for all the little punches I like to stick on my pages, just used it for a tag swap..... maggie

They are both great to have. I have both and find that I use both of them. You really need the X so you don't waste the cartridge with the 500 for little items. I don't use my 500 nearly as much, but it does come in handy at times.

They have a new one now that someone mentioned in another thread a while back, that is much easier to load cartridges into. You might want to check that out before you send your family shopping!

First and for most WELCOME Aboard.

A xyron machine is a sticker maker machince which uses acid free glue so you can take a die cut and make it into a sticker rather than using what you normally do to adhere your die cuts.

I'm sure someone else on the boards may be able to explain it better. I don't have one yet but, I bought the X and the 500 from my friend who is also my sister-inlaw for Christmas.

I have the 850 and use it to laminate whole pages for work or Sunday School. I bought the adhesive also, but have never had an occasion to use it. At a scrapbook week-end I watched someone using the smallest size Xyron to glue little pieces such as letters, and it seemed to be quicker than I was doing it. Now I'll have to get one of those too! If anyone knows the best place to purchase it (or another brand that is better?) would you please let me know? Thank you!
