Tell me how do you wake up in the am?

I wake up between 4:30 and 5:00 am every morning and don't use an alarm clock. It doesn't matter what time I go to bed either. I do like to sit for a while with a cup of coffee and watch the news or visit the Dis :teeth: .

Are you my husband???????? that is sick to get up so early, even on weekends! :rotfl:

ps I crawl into bed around 2 ish

I have no problem getting up normally I'm up and ready to go before the alarm goes off since my cat wakes me up. I don't need alot of sleep and don't have any desire to just lay there when I could be up doing other things.

2nd shift doesn't help, I dont get to bed till 130am on a week night. Gosh I feel like a big mess with this sleep thing. I can sleep for 10 hrs easy too!

The worst thing to do to me, is wake me for no reason.. I am a bear if you do that!!!!!!!! Kids are old enough now that they dont need to do that.. so when do you think DH will learn that one ?????? 14 years and he still does it! :confused3

Im totally a morning person. I do not work, but I seem to get up when my husbands alarm goes off around 5ish.. 95% I get up when he does, but once in awhile I stay asleep. Normally I lay in bed and try to catch the weather on the local news. After the bathroom break, I head downstairs, let all the dogs out, grab a bottle of water out of the fridge and sit my big butt in front of the computer ;) .
Even on the weekends, I find myself waking up around 6ish, even if no alarm goes off.

ummm, OK...TMI but rock on :banana: :rotfl2:

Most of the times I wake up (without an alarm) between 5 and 6 am. I immediately get up and promise myself that I will be back in bed soon. I go downstairs and turn on the coffee (which goes in an airpot for the day) and check the washer & dryer. Then I grab the paper and take my vitamins, drink a cup of green tea and water and do a 6 to 10 minute sweep of the house - this includes a quick swiftering of the floors, a minute of dusting- wiping sinks, appliances. Then - If I want I can go back to bed. 99% of the time I don't. I am awake and the house is ready for the day. I usually work until 7 am or so (cleaning, paperwork etc.) then when my husband comes downstairs, breakfast and coffee.

The days that I don't pop right up when I first wake up - I go back to sleep and many times sleep until 9 or so. I feel awful!

The first thing I do after I hit snooze three times is turn on the TV to check the weather. Then, I change it to Imus in the morning on MSNBC, and I get into the shower. I shower and then go downstairs for breakfast and coffee, which hopefully I have set the night before to brew and be ready when I get downstairs....by then I am pretty much awake!

I have a Mickey Mouse phone clock. Mickey tells me "It's time to get up". I HATE getting up with an alarm. I usually hit snooze a few times. Then I go straight to the shower and get dressed. That's the week days. I am up by 6:45am and out the door by 7:10am. Mind you, no makeup, no hair brushing nothing. I comb my hair in the car. LAZY... I should be getting up at 6:00AM.

During the weekend I get up when I wake up. Usually 7:30-9:00AM. Very rare that I sleep later. I get up, take the dog out right away and get some OJ and turn on the tv downstairs. I usually clean the kitchen and stuff right away and take a shower a few hours later!

I have a great "internal clock" so I'm usually awake before the alarm (radio please I hate buzzers) even goes off, counting down my last blissful minutes in bed. I stretch (learned by watching my dog), yawn then get out of bed ready for a brand new day.
DD3 is a morning girl too so she usually gets up when I do and we have our breakfast together. Then she goes to her playroom while I take a shower. After that I feed my DD 3months and then our day really begins.

DH meanwhile is still asleep since he works 4pm-midnight. His days usually begin around 11am with DD3 jumping on him saying "Daddy, I want..." He has no internal clock so he'd sleep until 5pm and swear it was only 10am if left to his own devices and he can sleep through anything. DD and DDog are his best alarm clocks.

If I wake up to an alarm I have to hit snooze about 3 times. Otherwise when I wake up, it takes me about 10 min to actually get out to bed. I put coffee on 1st thing and then go to the computer! :surfweb:

I am a total night owl, I love it especially in the summer time.

DH wakes up for work on his own, no clock. Although he can fall asleep anywhere, anytime. He can literally nap all day and still fall asleep at night.

When I used to work nights at a hospital, we were allowed to sleep, I would automatically wake up when there were things I needed to do at certain times. I would just say to myself, I need to wake up in 2 hours, and I would.

If it's a work day, the alram goes off for DH first, I stay in bed for about another 30 minutes then my alarm goes off. I usually take a minute to stretch, get up, do the whole bathroom thing, get dressed for work, go downstairs, put on coffee, let the dog out, fill his dishes with food and water, open the blinds, go to work.

If it's a non-work day, I'll linger in bed a bit, get up, eat breakfast and DIS.

I try not to use the snooze because then I feel worse. I am a shower person in the morning and that is what wakes me up. No coffee.

I consume absolutely no Caffeine. Even needed to give chocolate up a couple of months ago, so I don't even have that for my secret caffeine stash anymore.

When I need to get up--I just get up when I am supposed to. Fighting it only makes me more tired (like repeated hits of the snooze alarm).

I do also exercise which can help. And if repeatedly I need to get up early--naturally my bed times will fall more in line with that.

I am best rested if I can just awake naturally.

So even though I would like to do afternoon naps--I cannot b/c my body once it goes to bed likes to think it is in bed for the long hall. My naps have to be 3 or 4 hours or they are worthless. I don't have that much time, so I don't do naps at all.

On work days I get up with an alarm and on the weekend I usually wake up without it. Shortly after waking up I take a shower and do all the other bathroom stuff. I am dressed and ready for the day in about 30 minutes.

I went to a sleep doctor last year. One of the best things I learned is the snooze button is not your friend. If you don't get up immediately when that alarm goes off, it only intensifies a long (painful) wake up period. It's worked for me. I go to bed at the same time every night now, get out of bed immediately and I feel so much better every morning.
I remember reading years ago NOT to hit snooze -- that it actually makes it harder to wake up.

I shut off the alarm and get right out of bed. Then I:
hit the potty
turn the PC on
let the dogs out
start the teapot
make the bed
let the dogs in
take my BP meds
let the dogs out
check email, etc
make my tea
let the dogs in
hit the shower

I'm usually fully functional before I leave for work, but sometimes it takes me longer.

I use my internal alarm clock. If I do have to set my alarm just to make sure if I need to be somewhere early, I always wake up about 5 minutes before if goes off. One thing I do miss from my childhood is being able to sleep the whole night thru. I always wake up a least once-usually 2 or 3 times. I would love to go to bed and not wake up until it's time to actually get up.

First, I let out a long string of swear words. Then I roll over and try to rationalize sleeping later. Then I talk myself out of it, stretch, swear some more and get up.

Then I pee, spend waaaaay too much time in front of the computer, swear some more, get dressed and am out the door to work.

Good thing I live only 2 minutes from work!

Yeah, I'm really unpleasant to be around in the morning. Even more so now that I've given up caffiene. I didn't used to get up so hard, but I have a weird schedule. More accurately, I have a boss who doesn't know how to schedule. Today, I'm 10am-4pm. Tomorrow? 5pm-11:15pm. Back and forth and back and forth. Also, lately I have every other day off. Some people say they're jealous - I find it ridiculously hard to adapt to. I've been a beast at work lately - I'm just so tired. My days off I sleep 12-13 hours and usually nap, also.
