So, we've been to WDW twice (we just got back from our second trip :goodvibes), but we've never been to DL. DH has an upcoming conference (which we tried to go to last year, but his conference funds got pulled last year due to the ecomony :sad1:) at DL. We are going without the kids, so it'l be just me and DH . DH's conference only runs from 7am-11:15am (please refrain from harping on me about how when YOU go to conferences, you have to sit in meetings ALL day, etc. When I go to conferences, they hold me captive in a beautiful hotel from 7am-6pm every night. Not so with DH. We're just going to be happy about the hours, and not get overly righteous about how it's not a good use of corporate funds, etc.). So, DH should be ready to tour at about noon each day. I may go into the parks without him (especially since I've found out that TSM doesn't have FPs!). We will be staying at the Grand Californian just before Easter (we arrive on Wednesday and leave on Saturday, so that we'll be home for Easter with the kiddos). His conference runs Thursday morning through Saturday morning. What are must dos? How do dining reservations work? How far in advance can we make them? Which restaurants are the best, etc? Should we try to get a dining package for World of Color? Any other advice? --Katie

For World of Color, you have 3 choices: get there early to get a fastpass (not an option for you since your DH is in a conference), purchase a picnic, or do the dining. I like the picnic option- it's cheap (relatively- you've got to eat something) and you can pick them up anytime. Order online for the first show. Others have had good experiences with the dining package. I haven't tried it, so I can't speak to that.

To add to what PP said. You will be best doing any package to get WoC FPs.

WoC superthread. In this you will find that other than the dinners, a lunch package and picnic are available since you both can't enter early.

Also know since you are staying in the GCH you can use the hotel entrance into DCA 30 minutes before park opening, this is really so hotel guests can get WoC FPs early, but Soarin will be open.

Thanks for these links, guys!! They were both awesome (and took up a large chunk of my morning ;)!). Do you guys have any dining recommendations? --Katie

Other than AG and WCT which you could do to get your WoC FPs. Napa Rose is the best restraunt and is in the GCH. White Water snacks also in GCH has great Nachos. The burgers and ribs at Test Pilots Grill which is next to Soarin.

I like the Southern food in New Orleans Square. Blue Bayou is the most immersive place in DL but as an alternative people like Cafe Orleans. For either and Napa Rose you will need a reservation.

I'd really look at menus here and see what looks good.

I would also suggest spending an evening around the parade time or sunset at Alfresco lounge in DCA, for a nice appetizer and drink.
