Thinking of buying some gift certificates for our trip, but wasn't sure of the restrictions. Since we are traveling with extended family, can I purchase several certificates and use them on one bill? Any and all info is greatly appreciated. :)
TIA!

To get the gift certificates practically for free you can buy gift cards to Restaurant.com on one of the gift card websites i.e. Raise, Cardpool, Junkcard etc. Use giftcardgranny.com to see which site has the least expensive gift card.

Edit: It looks like I can only find them on Raise. 96% off. Not bad! If you buy through Raise go through ebates first :)

Make sure you read all the details before buying the cert. Some restrict you to dinner, minimum number of adults, or weekends, etc. We only buy them for places we would normally go to without the discount.

Another mistake I often read about is not looking at the specific guidelines for each amount.

If a restaurant offers different amount certificates, it usually goes something like this:

$25 cert - $37.50 or $50 minimum
$50 cert - $100 minimum
$100 cert - $200 minimum

These really aren't "gift certificates". They are coupons for a specific amount based on the rules each restaurant provides.

Because I'm new to this. I want to make sure I am doing this correctly. I can go to raise dot com and buy a restaurant dot com gift card then take that gift card to restaurant dot com and buy a gift card to the restaurant you wish? Sorry if this is a lame question but I've never bought gift cards this way.

Restaurant .com doesn't sell gift cards, they are more like coupons, such as $25 off with a minimum purchase of $37.50. Restaurant.com always has specials going on. It depends on the restaurants, for example $2 for a $10 certificate. Sign up for their emails.

Not a lame question! But you're right. Like everyone said, though, if you buy a $50 certificate for $25 the minimum purchase will most likely be $100. If you get the gift card through Raise, you're essentially paying the additional $50 to meet the requirement and the rest is free!

There are gift cards on Raise.com for Restaurant.com.

Make sure you check for a coupon code for restaurant.com. They usually get better at the end of the month. I usually buy at 70% off.

Sign up to receive email from Restaurant. com and they will send you monthly promo codes.

Thanks so much for the info! I have bought certs at Restaurants dot com before but I didn't know you could buy a gift card to get them cheaper. I love saving where ever I can to afford my travel addiction!

Sorry, I am new to this. Raise.com has Restaurant.com $100 gift cards for $4 or $25 for $1. This seems crazy, how do you know if they are legit? :confused3 If I get a $25 card for $1 then I use that at Restaurant.com to actually get a $25 coupon there?

Raise.com is indeed reliable and legitimate. After all, Ebates uses them as one of their retailers. If you should come across a problem where for some reason your gift card doesn't work, contact Raise and they'll fix the problem.

Just remember, if you get a $25 certificate through Restaurant.com, you're more than likely going to have to have a $50 minimum bill.

Got it, it still seems like a good deal. Unfortunately I looked on the site and didn't really see anywhere I would eat but will check back from time to time.

I agree. There aren't any restaurants on there that I'm too thrilled about. The HOB in DTD is on there if you ever go there! ;)

When restaurant.com first started, I used them many times, but anymore they seem to be more trouble than its worth. I do better just using local coupons.
