I have searched all subscriptions and can't find the thread about this. I know someone said there was a perk that came with buying e-tickets. Despite much time spent searching the Disney site, I can't find any information about it there.

I'm ready to start buying park tickets (I was holding out, hoping my sister would ask her SIL if there are discounts she could use...last time my sister and her kids went, her SIL got them free VIP passes. I was just hoping for a discount. My sister wouldn't ask. UGH. I won't go into why this bugs me, but let's just say I've done things to help her out more than once.) and, of course, with this middle aged brain of mine I can't remember why people suggested buying e-tickets.

TIA!

Beth

I've never heard of a currently offered E-Ticket. Those went out when they changed the passes from physicial ticket books to the multi-day tickets they currently offered.

Could they have been reffering to the benefits one gets from having a Premium Annual Pass? There are lots of Perks like Food and in-park merchandise discounts.

That's the only thing I can think of....

I think the reason is that you get a discount for buying them in advance (as opposed to just buying them when you get to the park) and that you can take an e-ticket directly to the turnstiles (some places give a voucher that must be exchange for a ticket before you go to the turnstiles). When you have an e-ticket, they will convert it to a ticket right there that can then be used in fastpass machines.

And because you don't need to wait for shipping, you can just print and go!

I think she means electronic tickets, not E-Tickets for rides :)

Lately, when we've gone to the DL parks, the lines have been pretty long at the ticket counters. With the E ticket, you save time and go right up to the turnstyle. There they'll exchange your E Ticket (which is a ticket printed on regular paper) for a park ticket that you can use in the Fastpass machines.

I ditto this answer

a perk...some discount or something...that you don't get if you purchase the tickets online. Honestly, if there's no reason to choose e-tickets over paper tickets, I'll just order paper tickets. It will save me the time and hassle of trading for real tickets.

Then again, maybe I misread the post!

At some point last year, people were getting a printable coupons when they got electronic tickets. No one has reported that recently.

There's NO time or hassle in exchanging vouchers that you printed for tickets...you hand them the paper, they scan them, and a ticket is printed right then and there and they hand it to you.

Now if you want the plastic "souvenir" tickets, well I don't even know if those are sent unless you're getting a vacation package, but you definitely won't be getting the plastic tickets with an electronic ticket.

You don't have to trade the e-tickets (well, you might consider it a trade, but I would bet it takes less than 10 seconds) AND you have to pay for shipping for paper tickets.

wanna made me realize I gave only a partial answer...you go to the turnstyles to trade your printout for the tickets...NOT the ticketbooth. Not when ordering through disneyland.com, at least...with getawaytoday etc you have to go to the booths, but with disneyland.com it's immediately to the gates!!!

So if I buy my tickets thru Disneyland.com I just go up to the main entrance gates but......if I buy from getawaytoday.com, I have to go to a ticket booth and switch out my voucher for real tickets THEN go to the main entrance gates?

I just checked both Disneyland.com & Getawaytoday.com and they are both charging the same for tickets right now for the time we are going to be in the park.

Yep!

Though with GAT you don't have/need a voucher; you give them your name (and I think the card you used to buy the tickets) and they look you up and give you the tickets. But still, it's two lines.

Ditto what Bumbershoot says about NO time or hassle - if you are first in line at the gate, they will even scan and give you your "real" passes before the park opens (as they begin to open the gates but not allow guests through the turnstiles). :goodvibes

E-Tickets is the way to go!
