I'm toying around with trying out a moderate resort for 2 nights after checking out of BWV next April. I've never stayed in any of them before. What is your favorite, and why?

Thanks in advance! :D

I have to say that I'm a big fan of Coronado Springs. I've stayed there twice and if I hadn't joined DVC on my last trip, I'd be staying there again.

I LOVE the atmosphere and ambience. It is very peaceful, and the colors are warm and sunny. It just gives me a happy feeling thinking about it! There's lots of fountains and beautiful courtyards.

The gift shop, Panchito's, is very nice, and I've always liked the food court, Pepper Market. They offer lots of different food so you don't have to eat the same thing every time.

For anyone who is going to stay there, I recommend renting a bike and riding around the resort. I did this last time and got some great pics! It was a great day away from the parks.

I put some pics up from our last trip here on the DIS. If I could figure out how to put them in posts, I would! Let me know if you want me to send you pics.

Oh, I have to agree!
Coronado Springs is our favorite resort, period!
We have stayed at WL, ASMU and CSR , and we love CSR the best.
Wonderful atmosphere, good bus service, alot of the perks of a deluxe without the bigger price. Don't get me wrong, we really like WL, but we thoroughly enjoyed CSR. So much so, in fact, that we are returning there in December!! Whoo -Hoooo!!! :bounce:
Buzz2001 has a GREAT website about CSR, with terrific information. Check it out, then try it out!

If I had to pick in order from my favorite to least favorite:

1) POR--Beautifully landscaped. Very romantic feel.

2)POFQ--Quaint and easy to get around.
Note: DH would have the exact opposite #1 and #2!

3)CBR--Our kids favorite while growing up. Lots to do!

4)CSR--Lovely but not quite our cup of tea.

I've stayed at all 4. My order:

CBR - I love the landscaping, it is so tropical! Stayed there in 1998 and then last month. Also a night this month when I was in Orlando for business.

POFQ - small and quaint, stayed there in February this year right bofore it closed.

POR - nice, liked the mansions, stayed there in 1999

CSR - didn't care for it, stayed there in 2001

POFQ is my favorite. Small and quaint, very quiet, lovely grounds, plesant and helpful CM's, plus the boat ride to DD is better than taking the bus.

POR is my second favorite. It is a lot bigger than POFQ, and the grounds can be quite intimidating when trying to find your way around for the first time, but if you follow the map they give you at check-in you should have no problem. The grounds here are just as lovely as POFQ and the CM's are also very plesant and helpful. POR also offers the boat ride to DD, plus there are six pools here compared to only one at POFQ.

The Dig Site pool & the landscaping at Coronado Springs are awesome! This is our favorite resort of the ones we've stayed at (see below).

We really enjoyed our stay at the POR last November. The grounds are very pretty, the boat ride to DTD was great, it has the best food court, good sit down restaurant and lots of recreational activities also. You get a basic moderate room, although I thought they seemed bigger then our rooms at the AKL and WL but minus a balcony and closet, which we really missed having.

We did stay at the CSR for a few hours this past trip but ended up moving because there was a VERY large youth group staying there who were very loud and not very well supervised, think spring break madness-lol. But I can say that the pool there blows POR's out of the water! It's huge and very well themed, plus the playground is large and themed as well.

BTW can you change your plans to a couple night before check in instead? I just think that any moderate will pale in comparison to the BWV and this way if you stay before you won't be disappointed.

Good luck deciding!

Take a look at my CBR web page, click on the CBR icon below. I also have some CBR pictures from our May 2001 trip, you can find those if you click on the "family vacations page" link below.

CBR is beautiful, very well maintained, all of the rooms were completely refurbished within the last 2 years, there's a brand new sit-down restaurant and food court, too. (I don't have pics of the new restaurant and food court, my pics were taken before that).

CBR has the largest of all the rooms of the moderate resorts, too. When you're at CBR you really feel like you're on vacation :sunny:

Can you tell our favorite? We've stayed there 8 x's

Wow, thanks for all the excellent responses! You all had great descriptions for me to think about, plus some had beautiful pictures to share. This could be a tough choice!

That's good advice, palmtreegirl, and I do appreciate the thought. Actually I'm really OK with the difference between BWV and a moderate. I'm a very flexible traveler and adjust well to all kinds of accommodations, as long as they're clean and well kept. I will have 3 nights to arrange before my BWV stay, and 2 nights afterwards. I'm pretty sure I'm going to stay over on the gulf coast for the 3 nights, and close to BWV for the 2 nights.

I do qualify for the discount at Swan/Dolphin, and I could go there for the 2 nights. But I'm trying out the Dolphin in Dec., and I thought it might be fun to sample another Disney resort instead. Decisions, decisions!

Thanks again for your valuable responses! :D Anyone else want to weigh in?
