Tell me about your experience with 3 people..

.. going to WDW. Was it ackward? I ask because my dad, my husband, and I are all going to be going this time and I wonder if one of us, most likely my dad or my husband, will feel left out having to ride alone.

It's been so long since we've been, and since I've only been once it's hard to remember what rides are two-seaters, etc., so I thought I'd get some opinions and strategies on this before we head that way in about 6-7 weeks.

What if you sit with your husband sometimes and your dad sometimes? That way they each feel included (not that guys care about it quite as much as us girls do).

Not all attractions are two-seaters, so there are many attractions where you can all sit together (with you in the middle!).

That's how we work it when there are 3 of us traveling.

I've been with my mom and best friend before. Wasn't bad because my mom likes to people watch and shop while my friend & I rode on the "big" rides - which she won't. The only disagreements we had was on where to eat.

We've been lots of times with an odd number of people, we just made sure to alternate who sat alone so that nobody felt left out. It worked fine.

A lot of the rides seat 4 to a row anyway -

The ones that do seat 2 to a row usually are close enough to lean forward and join the conversation.

My DW and I on one trip would go around with my Dad for the evenings (it was those nighttime EMH, before it was called EMH) when my mom got tired and went back to the room. I think we were all just having so much fun on all the rides without any lines, that none of us thought about the odd seating. My DW took turns sitting with both me and my dad on the two seater rides, but like other posters have said, there were only a couple of those. The other rides we were all able to sit together.

I think you guys will be having so much fun you won't even think about it. I mean, hey, its WDW "The Happiest Celebration on Earth!"

My DH and I have gone to Disney twice with a mutual friend of ours. It worked out fine. We all just switched off on who sat next to who on rides. The nice thing about Disney is that they don't seat a stranger next to you to make a party of four on most rides (exceptions are rides with single-rider lines like test track and mission space) We planned our ADRs in advance and consulted each other on where we wanted to eat. We had a few issues, as is to be expected, but overall we had a fun time and would do it again. I would not worry about it, you will have a great trip.

We had a great time with 3. My dad, fiance and I went together. My uncle was supposed to go, but had to work. Most of the time, the guys left me out and I was the one riding alone! My only concern was that my fiance and I wanted to have a "date night", and I didn't want my dad to feel left out. One night he was really tired and didn't feel like going out, so it actually worked out fine.

Anyway, the point is that regardless of how many people you are with, you'll still have a good time.

I went several times in college with my grandparents. We all had APs, and did 5 trips total, but DBf (Now DH!!) joined us on one trip and my parents joined us on another. So 3 trips. Basically, I chose to ride by myself most of the time. It wasn't that big of a deal. When I was younger and used to go with them and my parents, the second I was old enough I wanted to ride by myself, so I guess things didn't change much!

Some rides are a little more fun when riding alone (BTMRR, sliding back and forth in the seat). I don't find that odd numbers are that bad to be traveling with. Not as bad as if you were going to a Six Flags or the likes

we went with my mom in July and then my sister in September.....
we just alternate who rides with the "guest" (the guest being my mom/sister)....

I once went with my mom and her bestfriend. Now I was CM at the time and I got the room at the CM price .. so I felt a bit like I was being used for the discount I got. But my mom paid for my flight down to MCO so what can I say. They never asked me for anything and it actually wasnt that bad. Other than I was 21 and they were in thier 50's and there were some generation gaps. We took turns on rides being the lone rider. It actually was good because there was always a conversation going and most of the attractions that have multiple row we were together or we would be one row back ( like splash mountain)
The hardest part I think was for my mom, when she and her friend were tired and I wanted to go to PI and they didnt. She had a hard time letting me go on my own. Of course she must have called me 5 times on my cel to see if I was ok.

9 years later I go with my DH and last year we went with my sister and her husband and thier 13 year old. 5 is much like 3. Someone has to take a turn as the lone rider.
I do have to say that my favorite trip is when its just my DH James and me

Our family consists of me, DH & DD. So we have been a party of 3 for 18 years! It is surprising how many rides accomodate at least 3 in the seats. And some we all squish into anyway (HM comes to mind). If not, just take turns. It's all good Have a wonderful trip.

Or, sometimes your husband and your dad could ride together and you ride alone...
Or maybe one of you won't want to ride something... Or you could ride attractions like TTA (four+ people per car), Winnie the Pooh, Peter Pan, Snow White, Mad Hatter, Big Thunder Mountain, Pirates of the Caribbean, Jungle Cruise, Aladdin (there may even be a three-across "carpet", Walt Disney World Railroad, Spaceship Earth, Soarin', Living with the Land, Test Track, Mission Space, El Rio del Tiempo, the thing in Norway that I can never remember the name of, Great Movie Ride, Tower of Terror, Rock 'n Roller Coaster, Star Tours, Backlot Tour, Kilimanjaro Safari, Kali River Rapids, Dinosaur... all these attractions have either three-plus across seating, or ride vehicles that hold four adults in each car - two in the front seat, two in the back.
Then there are rides like Space Mountain where, I think, it's one person per seat with three people in each rocket.

Just got back from a trip with my husband and DS20. We alternated seating when there was space for only 2, and the only place I got complaints about people feeling lonely was in the Haunted Mansion. Everything else worked out great.

No probs with JC, Pirates, Stitch, Space Mt, Teacups, Phillharmagic, Tiki, Hall of P, CoP, Timekeeper, Cindy's Carousel, WDE RR, and Jamboree

No probs with Maelstrom, Rio del Tiempo, HISTA, Living with the Land, Soarin', Mission:Space, Test Track, Energy, Impressions de France, O Canada, Reflections of China, American Adventure, Circle of Life
Two to a seat but more in a vehicle at Imagination and SpaceShip Earth (and the old SeaCabs at the Living Seas)

I think Primeval Whirl, Magic Carpets, and Astro Orbiters are two people, but I can't be sure.

We are almost always three people and have never felt awkward. The only real times we are split up are Buzz, HM, and Peter Pan. (Only one will ride RnR--ME!)

Thanks everyone, I really appreciate all the good info! We were so lost the last time we went we couldn't even find our way into the Maelstrom ride. Needless to say we missed a lot of things and we want to see as much as we can this time!

My two daughters and I went last May and it was great. On rides where two people sat together, I would sit in front of them and film their reactions to the ride. We had more room in the car and the resort.
