Tell me about your Christmas toys!

Hits: DD(7) She really wanted a slinky dog from Toy Story. So we got her one. She loves it! Furreal pets were also a hit this year.
DD(4) We bought her a Snow White dress and she really loved that, wore it 3 days straight including to bed. The playdough set was a hit.
DH - Bought him Big Game Hunter and a Fishing Game for christmas. He is now a total Wii addict since these games entered our lives.

Misses: DD(4) did not like the stuffed monkey that makes sounds she received from her Aunt. She threw a fit of tears when it was turned on. I can't blame her for this...;)

:goodvibes Scrabble Flash sounds like something my family would like! We got several games but haven't had a chance to open them yet. Blokus, Lego Minotauras, Quirkle and Heroscapes. I feel like the Christmas vacation just flew by! We got snow the day after, so the kids have been playing outside before it melts!

DD6 will be turning 7 in January so I am looking for ideas for her, based on everyones recomendations! LOL!

Those with monster high dolls.....are your girls still plaing them? What about the Rapunzel tower? I have heard that those are big hits.

And yes, this year I was much more mindful of not buying on impulse or just getting them toys for the sake of having a lot. With my two older boys I was sure to get them things they would love but could use, rather than toys that would just sit there. NFL jerseys, college sweatshirts, new sneakers....those all were big hits and are already getting used!

Like I said the only "impulse" buy I had was those Magic collectors cards and those were a BIG hit! The boys did get PSP's and I bought them a few games each, but those are so small.....I'm so happy we are not drowning in new toy clutter!:goodvibes

Yes, my DD (11) who should be too old for them is loving them! (I am not complaining.) She has played with them every day since opening them.

The only real miss we had was that my MIL and I both bought DH the same book.
Other than that we scaled back (only 5 gifts a piece from us and 1 from Santa) and put a lot of thought into the few gifts they got so most were real hits. In particular:
DS13 Loved her guitar and Art kit. She actually burst into tears over both. She was also completly surprised that I remembered that she wanted the local High Schools hoodie.
DD11 started screeching that looks like a cell phone box as soon as she came in the room so needless to say:rotfl: she loves her new innuendo. She loves her Minnie dress but I expected a bigger reaction when she opened it. She was also thrilled to get the doll she asked for she thought we would all think she was too old for it.
DS10 Loves having his new phone. He's very excited to set up the new hotwheels track he got (just got batteries and I woulden't let him set it up while I cleaned for our NYE party yeterday). His biggest reaction was over the scrub a dub doll he had at the top of his list and the christmas themed rubber ducks I added to it (he loves bath toys). I'm so glad I diden't let DH talk me out of getting it. Surprisingly he wasen't as excited about the Halo command center I had bought him to make up for not finding it for his birthday. He likes it but I think he's a little over it.
DH surprisngly USMC doo rag :rotfl2: to go under his hemet wehen he gets his motorcycle was the big thing of the morning.
Me my charm braclet from DH was a big hit but even more so was that he remembered that he remembered that Christmas morning was ten years to the day from the day he proposed and he presented it by tellling me there was room for "ten more years of memories"

Wow! Thanks for all the responses!

StephMK....how is the babycakes machine? DD wou
ld love, love, love an easy bake oven but I think the novelty would wear off. Would love to know how the babycakes machine is. DD has her birthday in January so I am still looking for ideas! LOL!

It's fun but she has only used it once. I think the homemade cake mix used every measuring cup and spoon I own. At least it has the option to use a cake mix box. I think she will use it and liked the cupcakes a lot. Just make sure if u get one, spray the cups. I did not at first and they stuck. They popped right out once I learned!

No real duds here, except for the $100 of Sephora items DH bought me . He was soo excited to see me unwrap it all, but unfortunately he had found an old wish list of mine from 2008 I think . I don't use any of the products anymore.

I returned it all and now we are sleeping on my makeup gift LOL. Pottery barn sheets and new throw pillows were just what we needed I decided . : )

DS8 is in love with his ipod touch and the gift cards that the family gave have come in handy for sure !!!

Kung zhu pets are still being played with, I only got a four hamsters, a car and armor . I refused to get the rest of the stuff because I have a feeling he will be over it in a month.

Epic Mickey and Pac man wii games were a hit too.

Dh's new rifle and waders to go duck hunting will be put to good use soon. He also loves his new smoker.

A hit for everyone in my family was Pictureka - we all think it is fun, but the 10 year olds and my 5 year olds really like this game. I like it because it works for all the age ranges in my family. My 5 year old beat me today and I didn't even try to let her win.

Our kids have really enjoyed most of what they received. Our hits are:

Ds13..Sims game, heated socks, iLife '11 for Mac,

Dd10..Just Dance 2, Macbook, Pictionary Man, Sims, Despicable Me DVD and DS game, and Orbeez

Ds7...DsixL, digital camera (I'm so glad I got an inexpensive adult version instead of a child's camera), 12 Pillow Pets, Kirby Epic Yarn, and a dinosaur skull that you have to chisel out of stone

Ds5..DSiXL (and the I Spy Funhouse game), Toy Story movie and figures Dance Mickey

We didn't have too many duds, but there were a few.

*XHeli...helicopter, which only lasted about 10 minutes before "dying"
*Animal Planet tarantula, which didn't work out of the box
*Silly Putty...not a dud for the kids, but we just discovered it was left on our heated mattress pad and won't come off. :scared1:

DS turned 8 on the 27th

Loved the snap circuits. I got the set of 300 and he has been enjoying them. DH also had fun with them as well as myself and a neighbor father.

Loved the keva planks 200 set. He opened it with a friend and they messed with it for about 20 minutes but didn't build anything. He and I spent a little time building a few different contraptions and he really enjoys it. I think he just needed some direction at first. We have built things for the ball to travel down along with just things. Right now he has 3 airplanes that he has been using with it.

Nerf Vulcan, he bought this with a giftcard and hasn't been disappointed. He knew he really wanted it though.

Epic Mickey, he liked and played for about 90 minutes. When he turned it off he did say he couldn't get any further so I am not sure if he got out of the first place?

Chuck E Cheese wii, spent a while playing this today. Worht the $15 for a cheap game. Seemed to enjoy all of it so far.

Transformers DS game, loves it. I could have just given him this and he would have been happy.

Pillow Pet, makes him fall asleep quicker. Thought that was hilarious! He wanted the penguin and I ended up getting him the dog. He seemed okay with it.

Lego Pyramid game, just played it. Fun for the family, better then I thought it would be to be honest.

This was a mix of birthday and Christmas and he has really only opened one new thing a day more or less and spent that day playing with it. He still has some legos not open but I am sure he loves them. He loves all legos. He just has been doing other things. He also has been outside playing non stop, first in the snow, then the nice weather!

Love all the reviews! LOL!

We went to my SIL and BIL's house today for New Years Day and we all played the Apples to Apples Disney version and it was a lot of fun! All of us....from the age of 5 to 44 enjoyed it! My neices are 14 and 16 and they had a lot of fun and my five year old played with my cousin and she read it for him, but he was able to match the cards pretty well. Just thought I'd let everyone with kids of various ages that it was a good game. It can be kind of hard to find a game that all of the kids can play at once!

Hits:

DD4 - Loves her Loving Family Grand Dollhouse that Santa brought. And her Fisher Price IXL that my mom and stepdad gave to her. She's played with those daily since Christmas.

DSS9 - Loves his XBox 360 that his mom's dad got for him. I think it's foolish since DSS14 and DH both have one but whatever.... He's also played quite a bit with his Beyblades and Beyblade arena. Which surprises me because he's never been one to play with toys.

DSS 14 - Hands down the Black Ops XBox game. But there was no question on that :)

DH - The PSP that I bought him. He's played it daily and has even watched the movie that came with it (Karate Kid).

Me - I love my new Kitchen Aid stand mixer even though I've only used it once. I just go into the kitchen and stare at it :rotfl: I've been wanting one for years!!!

The Duds:

DD4 - Beauty and the Beast DVD. She asked for it over and over and has yet to watch it. But we have been busy so who knows. We also got her a new pair of Sketchers that she is refusing to wear. I got them on clearance at Dillards and they were an extra gift.

DSS9 - we got him a safe for his coin collection. I think he was kind of disappointed with it but I know when he gets older he'll appreciate it.

DSS14 - The shaving kit we got him :lmao: But he'll need it soon so there you go...LOL

I have a couple of sweaters to return to Kohls from my grandma and mom but I'm actually excited about that because it will add to my shopping trip money there  And DH has a pair of pants that I got him to return. But other then that, we did alright this year!
