Tell me about waitlists

How likely are you to get your room if you are waitlisted? How far in advance do you typically know if you will get your room? I'm concerned that we may get waitlisted for our trip and I do not know what to expect...

These are hard questions, as the answers will depend on a variety of factors, such as which resort, what time of year, and the size of the unit.

Of course, the sooner you get on the waitlist, the sooner you will know if you are going to get your request. We've always been able to get our waitlist fulfilled and usually several months before we travel. One time the request came through on the day we went on the list. I know that there is a point in time where you have to call to remain on the waitlist (I'm thinking it's either 30 or 7 days, but I can't remember, never having come to that point).
