Tell me about the spa/gym areas

Can you remove the robes from the area and use them in your room? I was contemplating buying the robe package, but I don't really need one at home, just on the ship. Someone also said you can get them in your room, if you ask. But if they're available in the locker room it might not be necessary to ask for them at all?

@FigmentSpark i was wondering the same thing, i pack a lightweight one but I'd rather not. Not sure how they would keep track of it to ensure it's returned?

I have no clue what the answer is to taking the robes from the locker room. However, I will note that the spa CM handed me my robe when I first arrived with my Rainforest pass, and I don't remember any stacks of them around the locker room. Shower shoes - yes, those were there to grab. Maybe I just didn't notice stacks of robes? but then why would the CM have handed it to me? So I don't think you can get one if you're just there for the fitness room / locker room areas unless you make a point of asking for one. Certainly no one was there in the locker room to make sure I put the used robe into a laundry bin, but whether they pay attention to guests walking out of the lobby with one - idk.

I was on the Fantasy, the locker/changing rooms are in the spa/gym area and are not locked or restricted access, but they are gender specific, so the steam room inside, and the showers are single gender. The robes were in a bin or a drawer under the benches there. As were the towels. I don't honestly know if you could take them back to your room or not, but there was no staff in there at the time, so I don't think they consider it a big deal or they would control them more tightly. If you brought them to your room you could get your room attendant to clear them for you.

PP is correct that the saunas and showers in the Rain forest room are co-ed and bathing suits are required there.

A little more detail about the regular shower/locker room (not the rain forest room). Free of charge, if you are over 18 just walk right in. It has free lockers where you set your own PIN code. Free towels, free robes. Several showers, a steam room, lots of large sinks with big mirrors. And when I was there, almost completely empty every time.

My wife and I started trading off going up there to get ready for dinner, so that our teen sons could hog the stateroom shower. We had a duffle bag on board (I brought it empty for souvenirs) it worked great as a "gym bag" to bring a change of clothes and toiletries. And it was so quiet and peaceful up there, unlike my stateroom... with my sons....

OK, by the end my wife and I were fighting each other to go up there. Actually, my sons are old enough, we should have just left them alone in the room and both gone to the gym showers. Now why didn't I think of that then?

Just a question about the sauna/steam room: Has anyone been on the Dream and used the sauna/steamroom? Is this a free facility if you do not purchase a pass? Wondering if it is also in the lockerrooms? Or on the Dream is the sauna/steamroom part of the Rainforest pass you must purchase?

I use my swim cover-up as a robe, heck it looks like one so I might as well get double duty out of it.

Im almost certain there is a dry sauna is in the locker room but the steamrooms are in the rainforest room/

Thank you. I actually have no idea what the difference is, bc I cannot use either, but I'm asking for my husband. So, it looks like on the Dream, there is a dry sauna inside the locker room, which anyone can use. But for the steamrooms, you'd need a rainforest pass?

I'm always very curious about the gym on cruises because I don't get it. I exercise every single day, run, lift weights, etc., so I'm right there with the people that would be considered workout fanatics. But for as much money as I paid for a Disney cruise, and it's obviously vacation time, what the heck? I'm not going to fall apart in a week with no exercise. I do the Castaway Cay 5k and that's it. I seriously don't get this and I've been a competitive athlete and totally support regular exercise. I would love to hear a good explanation of this.

Hi! I'll speak to this too. In my "regular" life, I run and do yoga, both things I really love. But I am very busy, with a full-time job, three kids, two dogs, and various other involvements as well. My calendar is full, and my workouts often either get skipped, or are timed down to the second so that I can get to the next place I need to be. I don't get a lot of relaxation out of it most of the time. When I go on a cruise, I have whole days just for ME, to do what I WANT. The luxury of being able to go for a run or do another workout, in a beautiful space with no rush and no demands on my time is FUN for me. I look forward to runs around the deck as some of my favorite time of a cruise. It feels so indulgent, and I just love it. It's not that I am afraid I'll get out of shape in a week. It's that it's the only time I really get to savor the experience. Does that make sense?

Well, I certainly can't speak for myself since I border on being a couch potato, and the exercise I get walking from my forward cabin to the aft restaurants does it for me, but I will tell you my husband needs to work out almost every day for his peace of mind otherwise known as mental health. He exercises more for the way it makes him feel than how he looks. True story. ;-)
Are you sure that you are not married to my husband he has to work out everyday or he might pop.
