Tell me about the Segway Tour

I just booked the Segway tour in Epcot and Id' love to hear more about it. Where is the indoor part of the tour? Where do you go in World Showcase? Are they able to provide narration as you go? Thanks

Thanks for posting this question! I'm wondering the same thing. May I add the question - What happens if it's raining at the time of your tour? Do they still have it?

The indoor training part for the 2 hour class is in one of buildings around the fountain at Epcot in Future World. It's actually the building that the word "Innoventions" is over in this version of the park map.
For the WS part, you are sort of in a "follow the leader" line behind the tour guide, with the trainer bringing up the rear. You go along the water of the WS Lagoon. At each country, you stop for a few minutes to get the party all together and the guide gives a little talk about the country. Then you have the opportunity to either rest, stay in the main path area or follow the guide along a little more challenging route (like in China, on the paths thru the garden and in Japan up and then down the bridge that leads around the pond and up to the counter service restaurant). You do that until after France; by the time you get to the UK, WS is open and there is too much traffic to do more than follow the guide in a single file line.

It's lots of fun. I've done it 2 times and will be doing it again in March.

I really enjoyed this experience too! My son and I both took the Segway tour back in October. I was afraid I'd be a little impatient with the instructional portion of the program (I knew I'd be so anxious to get out and ride!). . . but I really didn't get bored or impatient, because learning how to operate the Segway properly is fairly challenging. They have you practice stopping and starting, maneuvering around cones, etc., during the inside part of the tour. As I said, it's not as easy as I had expected, so I was glad to have the first part strictly for instruction.
Riding around the countries was a blast! I got to see some parts of the World Showcase countries that I didn't even know existed, and I've been there probably a dozen times or so.
As someone else mentioned, by the end of the tour, people are coming in to World Showcase. In my opinion, that definitely added to the fun, because people's comments were like "I want to do that!", "How do I sign up?", etc. We were definitely the center of attention in Epcot for those last 20 minutes or so!
Very fun experience, and one that I plan to do again.

One more thing . . . if it's raining, I'm pretty sure that they still do the indoor part of the experience, and they then refund a portion (50%, I think) of the cost if it's not possible to complete the outside part of the tour.

I can't remember what we were told (someone asked on one of our tours), but I think you have the option of completely cancelling or doing only the indoor part (with a partial refund).

My husband and I did this tour a few weeks ago during our Jan 2006 trip. It was great. You do an hour in doors, which is all training. You learn how to start, stop, turn and basically not run over others. You then venture out into the park like "ducks in a row". As you go around the World Showcase they do give you little facts about each country and you get freestyle time in Italy along with picture taking time. It was a great tour and we would do it again.

Four of us did the Segway tour on Jan 31st. Sue in MN's description is right on. It was one of the most fantastic experiences in my entire life! .. and I'm 54! I do many tasks left-handed and had some trouble turning right and left (did the opposite of what I needed, even if I "ordered" my hand to turn the correct way), so I was the last one in line ... was dubbed "The Pokey Puppy" ... and had a blast. Am looking forward to doing this again on our next trip.
