I am buying a resale that has points borrowed from '03 and I would rather get those points back where they belong somehow and I've read on here more than once about this "secret" once in a lifetime banking rule -- is this correct?? How does it work??

There have been reports of members being able to excercise a one-time banking option that would otherwise not be allowed. It has arisen when someone mistakenly misses his banking date or because a member has been unable to use points as planned because of a personal issue. Your situation does not appear to be one where it would apply as I have never heard it applied to already borrowed points (that would not even be "banking" which applies only to one use year's points being banked into the next use year) and the situation exists simply because you are buying an existing contract which Disney would look at as your voluntarily assuming a known situation.

It's on a case by case basis and not in writing to my knowledge. I used it once when I had to cancel on the day of arival. It involved borrowed points. I was able to take the points out of reservation status AND bank them to the next year both. I didn't even lose the first days points.

Without saying too much, both replies above are correct. I would suggest you ask - because that is what makes Disney great- ask and you receive. Most of the time;)

Good luck!

We had a little problem when my mom first made the purchase before I was involed in this. After the purchase I read it all and assummed that her year end date was the contract date. Come to find out the Guide"Did her a favor" and gave her a December year end date as opposed to April so the banking thing was a mess. She missed the banking date I hit the roof and after having veins coming out of my neck we were offered a ONE TIME banking adjustment. So it can be done if you roar enough!

Has anyone ever been able to do this retroactively? Back in the mid-90s, I lost 154 points when I had to cancel within the holding window, and the vacation was in the last month of my use year :(

I keep telling myself I've gotten over it and it doesn't bother me anymore, but since I still remember how many points it was 6 years later, it must!

Peter,

I have never heard of anyone getting expired points put back in...but I think you should be the first to try!

Let us know how it goes...good luck!

Unless you could convince them it was their fault, I wouldn't think you have a chance in He$$ of getting the points back.
