I am taking advantage of the great Mousesavers deal at the Royal Plaza at DTD this December-$69/night including breakfast! I haven't stayed in a non Disney hotel in over 7 years of Disney trips. Since this is a short stay with just me and my DSs, I thought we might try it. Just wondered how nice it is? How are the busses? I love being able to walk to DTD.

Since this isn't a Disney-owned resort, I'll move this over to the Orlando Hotels and Attractions board for you... :)

I stayed @ The Plaza 1 year ago,and here are i little of what i thought.
We had a tower room,(2´nd floor, thats the first room floor )
The room are very large for an Orlando area hotel,(have i learned).
It has an "roman tub", meaning the tub are square, and pretty large.
The balcony are a joke,as the size of it are so small that you can stand on it,but not turn around.
The hotel looks good, and everything was clean and the staff was friendly.
The Disney buss leaves the hotel every 30,min.
There are 1 bus for each park, Ordinary, but at slow times 1 bus goes to Two parks.
The bus also picks up people at other DTD hotels,so it can be Your not getting a seat.
You can walk down to DTD Marketplace ,they got nice sidewalks, and the walk will take about 25,min.
You can also walk "the other way"(15,min),then you come to "the crossroads",where there are a big grocery store, and many eateries. McDonalds,Pizza Uno,Taco Bell, and many others.

You have an Magical Time.

Roger.

My family has stayed there twice when we have gotten a good deal. We all liked the hotel, good size room, good pool for swimming, buses were fine although not as convenient as the Disney buses as they let you off further away in the parking lot. We walked to DTD with no problem. As the Royal Plaza is earlier in the bus pickup rotation, we never had to stand.

We've stayed there four or five times when we've gotten good MS deals for a quick weekend getaway, and we've enjoyed our stays there. The staff is friendly and helpful, and we've always enjoyed the little cafe restaurant there for a quick bite.

The rooms are quite nice, with comfy bedding, and terrific bathrooms. We love the Executive Suites there. You get a nice living room separate from a the bedroom, and the cost is very reasonable for what you get.

Not the greatest views from your room, but we don't care much about that since we've been to Disney so many times.

It's a real nice walk to DTD. Someone said 25 minutes, but it only takes us about 15. We're walkers, though.

Bus service is okay. A little slower than the Disney resorts to get to the parks, but again, we don't mind it.

My only real complaint would be the parking. It can be a long walk to your car depending on how crowded the parking lot is when you get there.

I'd recommend it to anyone not needing the "magic" of Disney in your hotel.
