DS will be 7 when we go this September. Is this something he does w/out us? If we decide to go with him do we have to pay also? Is is safe to just leave him and go back to the hotel? We are staying at POFQ. I saw that there are different pirate cruises at different resorts. Are they all pretty much the same just different locations? DS is really into pirates so they sounds really cool.

pirate: I need to know more about this pirate cruise! We are going to WDW in 14 days:hourglass ---Our 1st family trip there!!! Our boys are 5 and 9, and they love pirates. We are staying at POFQ also.

The cruise is kids only....they give you a pager so they can get ahold of you if something happens. I'm sure you could go back to POFQ or just hang out around POR, whatever you prefer.

The one at POR is actually the "Jester" cruise--it's (I think) an hour and a half long and includes a light lunch. The cruise goes down the river by POR and they search for the "Jester", which they find at the end.

There's also a pirate-themed one from Grand Floridian, and I think another one from one of the moderates--maybe CBR?? Anyone know?

Anyway, if you check out allearsnet.com and look under the POR facts sheet, it'll give you more details on the POR cruise. I would imagine for the GF cruise you would find that info on the GF fact page.

Hope this helps! I've been thinking of having my kids do one too, on our next trip.

there is one at CBr and also one at the BC. It is really a lot of fun. Drop them off, wave good-bye as they take off in teh boat and go eat breakfast in one of the restaurants or go grab something from the Boardwalk bakery. Also, you could schedule some type of spa treatment while they are with the pirates or walk into Epcot and browse around a country or two.

My DS 5 did the original one at the Grand Floridian for the first time in December. Note, he as ADHD and most probably Aspergers, which is on the Autism Spectrum. HE DID GREAT!!!!! And He LOVED it! I booked it for him for our upcoming August trip!

Be prepared to book 180 days out...these cruises book FAST!!!!!!!

Do you have to pay at the time of booking or do they just need a credit card deposit?
